Harper is in for Nats

Joey’s interview was weak but sometimes it’s best to just say what’s best

And we are underway. Peraza with the ground out. With it sunny out and Votto no playing, I doubt I will follow the game today.

Mason Williams with a better drag bunt than I've ever seen Billy have.

I think that is a push bunt, and I think Billy had one just as good yesterday, but Rendon was playing much further in and he made a fantastic play to throw Billy out.

Dixon shows woeful inexperience on that grounder to Scooter, losing any chance of a DP.

Castillo allowed 2 runs in 3 innings and has thrown a lot of pitches, nearly 60.

Scooter's production slowly trending down.

Scooter's production slowly trending down.

He's a good hitter who's numbers were off the charts because was benefiting from some insane BABIP luck.

Nothing that many here didn't predict.

Williams is playing like he wants to stick around.

OPS by month

April/March (123 PA's) .757
May (99 PA's) 1.139
June (109 PA's) .835
July/August (113 PA's) .731

Barnhart pops up with the bases juiced. Need something from Dixon here.

He strikes out. Thom would have hit a grand slam.

CaiGuy

Dixon can hit lefties a bit, but not much else.

Rough AB.

Those two ABs from Barnhart and Dixon are about as bad as you can do!

Not a bad strategy.

Barnhart hitting below .200 for more than a month now. Maybe Casali should get more starts.

Sub 600 OPS Since July 1st seems sub-optimal.

A very manageable performance by Castillo....71 pitches thru 4 innings

Ground ball gods with Castillo, easily thru the 5th after a lead-off single.

Castillo yanked after a pair of one out singles in the 6th. Understandable, but I don't know about using Wandy here...

The Reds offense has sure disappeared since the All Star break. They were is the top 3 in offense before the break, and since in the bottom third in the NL. What is really surprising is the Reds have stolen only 4 bases since the break.

Eaton is the better baseball player, which is why he gets a hit off him, but Lorenzen would rip Eaton's head off in a fight lol

That’s what happens when they lose Schebler and Winker and Scooter goes in the toilet

At the All Star break, I had hopes the Reds would reach .500, but since, they have played more like it was April.

Injuries man, they'll turn a sub .500 team to a really sub .500 team.

Votto pinch hitting for Barnhart, gets booed?

Takes called 3rd strike, game ovah.

The crux of the loss was down by one with no out and bases loaded and two batters do not even get a productive out!

The offense without Schebler and Winker is well below average. They have no margin for error. And with Scooter and Votto struggling its pretty tough to watch.

And thus a 3 page game thread. It must be August in Reds land again.

Their replacements, Ervin and Williams, have put up 1.136 and .920 OPS's in their place, so it's more the rest of the lineup has been slumping.

I was at the game today. It was a sad offensive performance and I was clapping for Joey while the Nats fans booed; fortunately its not Oakland Raiders fans and I was unharmed.

Dixon was pretty awful at the plate -- Billy Hamilton wasn't very good either.

I love talking about the Reds but I'm definitely not a game thread kind of guy. 1/2 the posts end up being gripes about the announcers or the umpires being against the Reds.

Though, on a rare occasion, like this one I go back and read them later.
