1-0 Redlegs early with hits from Peraza and Scooter.

Geno RBI double! 2-0 good guys.

Bleh, they ruled it ground ruled. So still 1-0.

And now a rain delay. Great stuff all around lol.

The Reds need to put their bats out where the lightning can hit them. Maybe that will wake them up.

They will wait a long time before calling the game off. Probably 2-3 hours if necessary. This is the only trip into New York this year

How did it take so long for them to get the players off the field? That lightning was way to close for comfort for a few minutes before they finally called for the grounds crew.

Also, how do they even start a game that ends up getting delayed four batters into it? They have weather radar available to them, no?

Oh I know....I’ve been at GABP for a 3 hr 5 min (Mother’s Day Votto walkoff grand slam and 3 HR) and a 3 hr and 15 min delay, just a couple weeks ago)

Editor’s Note: wife had to work next morning and whines until we left after 9 innings....50 miles down the road Votto walks it off in maybe his top career moment and our seats were right out by where he hit it.

Definitely. Arrived at 12:35 for a 1:05 start....insane delay. Game started a few minutes after 4, long game and I believe they pretty much stopped concessions as the game began....but game was entertaining and going on, but it was her idea for Reds game on Mother’s Day so it was easy to give her her way

I’d like him to get a bit more movement on the ball. He fits right in on this Reds staff. Too many HR allowed, a bit high on walks too. Too many baserunners allowed....but serviceable. Sal’s K/BB just 2/1

With his next out (assuming he gets one here) he’ll be atop the Reds pitchers in innings pitched.

Met him at Reds Caravan...good good dude. Easy for me to root for him.

Hughes comes in and gets the inherited runners to die on base and preserve Sal's one run allowed for the night, after Sal loses focus while he is having fun. Wwwwhen Sal went out, a bloop and a blast by any of the next 4 batters would have tied it. BUT, Hughes killed it!

Tonight was maybe the best Sal has looked all season.
I don't know if he will start next season in the rotation, but he has definitely earned the opportunity in my opinion.
I fully expect the Reds to compete for at least a Wild Card spot in 2019.

On another note, I seen where Tucker Barnhart leads all of baseball in block % rate.
That's a pretty big deal.

Good win. Did I hear this statistic right? 18 times in 20, if the Reds get a quality start, they win? Wow.

No, you didn't hear that correctly. Reds have more QS than that, though not many more (32 QS in 114 GS). But the likelihood of winning when your starter goes at least 6 and gives up 3 earned runs or fewer skyrockets - yes that is true (23 team wins in those quality starts).

Quality Starts by the 2018 Reds:

Cody Reed: 0 QS in 1 GS
Brandon Finnegan: 0 QS in 5 GS
Anthony DeSclafani: 3 QS in 11 GS (Reds Record 3-0 in those quality starts)
Matt Harvey: 3 QS in 15 GS (Reds Record 3-0 in those quality starts)
Homer Bailey: 5 QS in 15 GS (Reds Record 0-5 in those quality starts)
Luis Castillo: 6 QS in 23 GS (Reds Record 4-2 in those quality starts)
Tyler Mahle: 7 QS in 22 GS (Reds Record 6-1 in those quality starts)
Sal Romano: 8 QS in 22 GS (Reds Record 7-1 in those quality starts)

So true. With Iggy, Lorenzen, Hughes, Hernandez and Garrett we're a long way towards a playoff level bullpen. All they need to add is a loogy and they're set.
