I like this lineup against a righty. Only two righties (and pitcher) in lineup.

I was guessing a day off today for Scooter or Suarez

Chris Welsh just perfectly described Jon Jay

JaxRed
08-12-2018, 01:16 PM
Jay lines a soft single to left and Goldschmidt pops out on first pitch. Chris talks about how Castillo is throwing strikes and on cue he walk the next guy. 2 on need to get Pollock.

Ironman92
08-12-2018, 01:17 PM
Greg Gibson sucks. He was behind the plate screwing over the Nats and tossing them and staring down the dugout. He’ll call that a strike on Votto and Scooter

Way to jinx him. Walk

Glad to see Soto there to help Castillo

Castillo serves up a 0-2 3 run homer....he could be so good but just seems to lose concentration at times.

Descalso of all guys, who's been slumping for months.

This is a tough series to sweep.

It’ll be a good test if Castillo can keep it together having allowed the homer.

0-2 pitch down and nicely into the zone on the lefty

It just can’t happen. It’s 0-2...focus. Why anything even close to that hittable.

I think Scooter’s swing matches up with this pitcher

InsaneinthBrame
08-12-2018, 01:31 PM
I do not think it is concentration with Castillo. He is great out of the wind up and he struggles out of the stretch especially with command.

This is last part of his development he needs to figure out.

I also would like to know what happened to 2 mph on his fastball.

I can’t argue with his overall results but his swing arc just looks like something that could be taken advantage of. He’s not a tall guy and he holds the bat at the knob and has that loopy swing.

I wonder if his shoulder is affecting him. He only has 1 HR since the all-star break. The team becides Suarez has really struggled with HRs since the break. Suarez 7HR rest of team 11

Where do you find that stat. It is rarely discussed, but I think it is one of the major factors effecting pitching results, and the most ignored topic concerning analytics.

It is basically no runners on vs runners on. you can get from Fangraphs
Only bases loaded adjustment you can get these from baseball reference since it is only 9PAs the straight numbers from fangraphs gives you the basic idea of what is happening.

Castillo has given up 2 homers today, both out of the stretch. Of the other 20 HRs he's given up this season, do you know how many were out of the stretch?

Why does it seem like all you need to do is be drafted by the Reds and then soon traded = you become a world beater?

I can think all the way back to Paul Konerko.
As soon as the Reds let him go he became a beast.
Yonder Alonso, Yasmani Grandal, Edwin Encarnacion, etc...
Every time I see a highlight of Didi I get sick to my stomach.

NebraskaRed

Lorenzen doesn't get mentioned much in trade talks. I'm not saying his value is super high, but I would think he could get something worthwhile in return.

I loved Casey as much as the next guy, but really wanted to see the Reds keep Konerko....Grandall was a toss up between him and Devin...Didi, I agree 100%

Edwin is a different animal...anyone in baseball could have had him after his release from Toronto

How far has Jose Peraza come in such a short time?
Kid is 4th in the NL in hits and nipping at Scooter's heals for 3rd.
I never thought in a million years I would ever say this but Jose Peraza > Todd Frazier
If he could learn to take a walk here and there we could have one of the better lead off hitters in baseball.

We traded Burba for Casey didn't we?
I don't even remember what the Reds got for Konerko.

Are you thinking about Jose Bautista leaving Toronto?
Edwin signed a huge free agent deal with Cleveland when he left the Blue Jays.

Yonder Alonso? He never put up a .750 OPS season until 5 yrs out of Cinci as part of the Latos trade

Didi never put up higher than a 97+ OPS until 5 years out of Cinci and 3 yrs out of Arizona

I would imagine Tiger fans are quite sick of Eugenio Suarez although I am sure they thoroughly enjoyed Simon's memorable year in Detroit

Hit it right into the shift for a DP. Even if you hit a HR, you are still behind. Just serve it into LF to bring Suarez up as the tying run, and if they walk him, Williams with the bases loaded.

That was great. Nothing but sheer joy. As for the guy who made his kid throw back the HR ball just before that he should have his dad card taken away. That was just stupid.

Break out the Meatloaf. Two out of three ain't bad. I'll take that in this series and move on to Cleveland.

Reds should have started Jesus Reyes this game against Godley. Could have billed it a perfect Sunday match, Jesus vs Godley.
