I would have preferred the more experienced Dixon at 1B.

But if they were set on putting a completely inexperienced player at the position, why not Herrera at 1B?

I was not as down on Tony Cruz or Stuart Turner as some on here were, but Curt Casali is far superior to either of them. He is also a better fit for this club than Devin Mesoraco was, as well.

as basically Mesoraco's replacement, he's cheaper, younger...I'm not sure what the downside is in comparison.

Thanks, I missed that. I was trying to root Idaho to an upset win over Mich in the LLWS, and missed it. Idaho suffered a heart wrenching walk off loss, precipitated by an amateur umpire that couldn't identify a ball dropped on the transfer from his glove to his hand on a third out pop-up, which wasn't review-able and no other umpire would help him get it correct.

I can't understand how Jim Riggleman/Bryan Price, Ron Gardenhire, Rick Renteria, Paul Moliter, Kevin Cash, Dave Martinez, Jeff Banister, John Gibbons, Mickey Callaway, or Andy Green all have managing jobs in MLB and Dusty Baker sits at home after being let go for the 4th time since the late 90's. It literally blows my mind.
Dusty is nothing but a winner. All he does is win.
It's like he takes over a losing club, turns it into a winner in no time, and gets fired because he spoils the franchise and doesn't win a World Series.
He done the same thing in Chicago, San Francisco, Cincinnati, & Washington.
I'm guessing the folks in Washington are thinking the same thing people in Cincinnati have been thinking for 4 years now...."Man we screwed up"

The answer that Riggleman didn't give, but must be true, is he wanted both Barhart's and Casali's bats in the line-up! Casali ahead of both Dixon and Herrera from the right side.

So much talk about Acuna Jr being hit by Urena out there, but no one has said a word about Votto being hit on purpose by Ryan Madson.
Which was even worse because it actually hurt Votto and ruined the rest of his season.
And robbed Cincinnati-Votto fans from watching him possibly going on one of his patented 2nd half runs.

I NEVER root for the Cubs, but I had a smile from ear to ear watching Madson walk off the field with his head down after Bote hit that walk off grand slam off him.

There is about 100 times more intrigue and excitement around the Braves this year than there has been in Cincy since we traded for Griffey.
I hate it but the only media who talks about the Reds are on MLB network radio and it’s usually only to say how good of a pure hitter Joey is. Or that for the 3rd year in a row it felt like Cincy was gonna make moves at the deadline and didn’t. And they wonder why not

The Cubs get Addison Russell for Jeff Samardjiza....
Chris Sale is a different animal but the White Sox did get the #1 prospect in baseball for him in Moncada...
The Yankees get Gleyber Torres for Aroldis Chapman...
The White Sox get Eloy Jimenez for Jose Quintana...
And many, many more.

I can't understand how the Reds botched the Cueto trade so bad.
Neither Reed, Lamb, or Finnegan were a top Royals prospect. And they gave away Chapman for a bag of popcorn.
Our re-build could be way ahead of schedule if those 2 trades were handled correctly.
And I know Chapman was going through the domestic thing at the time, so what, they should have waited.
