I'll be listening to the Uek on MLB radio. Shouldn't be as much of a contentious broadcast to listen.

cumberlandreds

Reds out in order in the 1st. God be with us all as Stephenson takes the mound.

At least it was not a walk

cumberlandreds
08-22-2018, 02:19 PM
And it continues.....Yelich with a long HR.

Progress?

Cain lines out as Hamilton runs it down.

Aguilar grounds out to end the Brewers first. 1-0 Brewers.

NebraskaRed

ok, well that was progress, I guess

TRF

Get Reed up.

ugh. Then again, Yelich is one of the "new" leadoff hitters. Power and OBP. And can run.

NebraskaRed

Williams walks.

I'm still not sure what to make of him.

I'm still not sure what to make of him.

He's a guy.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat.

Barnhart grounds into a double play to end the Reds 2nd.

Big Klu

Williams walks.

I'm still not sure what to make of him.

I think he could be a serviceable 4th/5th OF, capable of playing all three OF spots. But he would have been a better fit as a defensive-minded 5th OF back in the days of the 7-man bench. Sort of a modern-day Herm Winningham, but with a little more pop.

cumberlandreds
08-22-2018, 02:38 PM
Braun doubles just missing a HR.

cumberlandreds
08-22-2018, 02:41 PM
Braun makes a running boo boo and is thrown out by Peraza trying to go to third.

cumberlandreds
08-22-2018, 02:43 PM
Pina singles and the runner goes to third.

NebraskaRed
08-22-2018, 02:43 PM
don't walk the pitcher

cumberlandreds
08-22-2018, 02:45 PM
Stephenson survives that inning with help of base running blunder. 1-0 Brewers after two.

NebraskaRed

and he didn't. All because I reminded him not to walk the pitcher.

Can you remind him not to give up homers and doubles?

Chip R

Can you remind him not to give up homers and doubles?

Make up your mind. Do you want him not to walk people or not give up HRs and doubles. Greedy.

Freddy Peralta walks the pitcher to extend the Reds third.

Griffey012
08-22-2018, 02:51 PM
Peralta should get DFA'd automatically. He walked the pitcher. Just throw him strikes, duh.

cumberlandreds
08-22-2018, 02:52 PM
That walk did no good and the inning is over for the Reds half of the third.

Lead off double for Yelich. An 108 MPH shot at that.

I'm no expert, baseball professional nor am I related to an owner of the Reds. With that being said, I know when someone isn't a major league pitcher and right now Stephenson isn't a major league pitcher.

A little 3-0 leo saves RS and he gets through the inning.

He still has a chance to somewhat salvage his pitching line with a solid 6th.

Hey Robert, the math is pretty simple:

You pitch strikes to a guy and he's going to get on about 30% of the time.
You pitch balls to a guy, and he's going to get on about 100% of the time.

BobSteve was bad again today. 4 ER, 9 H and what - 3 BB in 5 IP? That's the typical BobSteve ML pitching line and I don't see it ever becoming consistently better. If he's in our future plans it needs to be in the pen.

He wasn’t great but he showed enough to get another start. Unlucky in that Peralta allowed a couple runs to score. But lucky in the the Brewers ran themselves out of at least a couple runs with TOOTBLANs.

Better than his last 2 starts but that’s a pretty low bar.

In defense of BobSteve's line- one of the walks was intentional and the other two were on 3-2 counts. The walk to Shaw, Gameday shows the 3rd and 4th balls as strikes/right on the corner.

They won 1 of 3 on the road vs. a superior team, which is statistically the most likely result. No reason to expect anything otherwise.

I wouldn't watch if I expected the "statistically most likely" result 'cause that'd mean my team would get pummeled. I'm holding out hope that I'll see more of what we saw in June and July when the Reds did remarkably well vs "good" teams.

Does it seem like the Reds always sleepwalk through these mid week afternoon games? I think its probably the product of a losing culture this franchise has now. It's a day game and get away day so lets run through this one as quick as we can.

Stephenson just doesn't look like he is ever going to be productive. He allowed 12 runners on base in five plus innings. That's a recipe for disaster no matter how the runners on getting on base. I suppose he should start the rest of the season just to see if anything at all is there but if not then it should be bullpen, at best, next season. More than likely he will be a throw in for some trade in the off season. A change of scenery might do him some good anyway.
