Good news: MLB is showing all the games free today.
Bad news: The Reds are starting Homer Bailey.

Hamilton - 8
Peraza - 6
Gennett - 4
Suarez - 5
Schebler - 9
Ervin - 7
Barnhart - 3
Casali - 2
Bailey - 1

The Reds will attempt to rake against Kyle Hendricks.

I'm not proud of this........... but I'm hoping Bailey gets hit early and often. I realize he is almost 100% sure to be on the team and at least our #5 starter next year, but there is no reason to pitch him again this year.

Sorry....

We have seen the shift defense...but after watching Peraza for the past two months I often wonder why teams don’t play a bloop defense against Peraza. Peraza has been very successful at the hit the OF just can’t quite get to....and they usually aren’t on the line. I can’t think of but 2 or 3 times where his batted ball would be out of reach of an OF and beat them for a double....the ones out of reach he hits go over the fence (not many of those either)....but he’s had many many many hits in bloop range. Also, moving in the OF even more often gets a player to try to do something a bit out of their comfort zone...just like trying to beat the shift

Stupid little nubber single by Murphy to start the day for the Cubs, probably a bad sign of things to come.

Scooter’s swing is so long and slow right now. He needs a day off and to shorten things up.

Now a long Baez AB gets a groundout in the hole but Peraza's throw pulls Scooter off the bag.

Two Cubs batters in and I'm thinking I don't wanna watch this.

At a time when Bailey can use all the good luck he can get, he get's nothing but bad luck.

I don't think I've ever seen Billy fall down like that before LOL. Are the Cubs using Voo Doo Dolls again?

Another awful inning for homer what a joke

Heyward mashed that ball...Billy took a step in then blew a tire....at best the initial movement on that is a freeze to momentarily read but doing that and Billy still doesn’t get to that ball.

Homer is not having good luck but Billy slipping there just looked to he unlucky, but it was moot in my opinion

The Reds played the field like the Bad New Bears in the 1st. There were at least two missed outs, and maybe three if you count Billy falling down. Homer is not good, but that innings was mostly bad fielding.

There’s one key thing about Homer Bailey that people are missing: he’s actually good somehow

Haven't been Homer's biggest fan but today I was hoping he would begin to turn the corner.

Cubs have their big lead and in Sunday afternoon fashion are swinging early and often to get this over with.

Marty and Jeff are almost as disinterested in this game as the Reds players. Can't blame any of them.

Sure glad the Reds let two straight trade deadlines pass where they didn't trade a highly-in-demand Iglesias.

Stephenson is utterly useless as a baseball player (not saying he's a terrible human being).

Let's not let the pitiful pitching distract from the fact that the offense the whole game has been two Barnhart singles and a Gennett walk. And the horrible defense, this entire series, to boot.

What a clownshow.

Good inning from Reed though, put my man in the rotation.

It’s that moment the FO was speaking of. Hard not to get caught up in it! Woo hoo
So glad no major moves were made to this team that’s lost 90 4 years in a row. Would’ve hated to see a shakeup.

Offense went in the tank once Winker and Schebler hit the DL. I'm not saying those two are magical keys, but that seemed to be the timing.

On the bright side, Bailey's 2018 ERA went down today. Dropping from 6.21 to 6.17.

I haven't watched this weekend. You can blame Homer (who will be a starter as long as he has that contract), but truth is, one run would have cost them the game. Truth is, the lack of Votto in the lineup hurts tremendously along with a healthy Schebler, and Duvall driving in runs (I know that's not going to be popular). Batting Barnhardt so high in the order and depending on Billy making great making great plays is really foolhardy. On the pitching front, only Matt Harvey (a proven starter even if flawed) and Disco could be counted on to not dig a hole the emasculated offense couldn't overcome the 3, 4, 5 run deficits. And even they failed. I don't know the answer, but trotting out these starters, which could were merely "suspects" instead of prospects, ain't working. More of the same after how many years? If they rehire Riggleman, it's going to be worse than you can imagine.

I guess when you're paying a guy $21,000,000 a year, you want to be very, very sure you've squeezed everything out of him you can before tossing to the scrap heap.
