Looked like Lorenzen was exuberant after the homer because he was annoyed at the inside pitch before.

The one that was a foul and not considered a bunt strike three.

Really has some power, Lorenzen, that was a rocket.

While Lorenzen was batting, I was thinking that if he wants to be known as a hitter he needs to have a productive plate appearance in that key situation. Then he promptly fails to get the easiest of productive outcomes, a sac bunt. Then he comes thru on the 5th pitch, all sliders, for the 3 run HR. I can't see the game, was it a hanging slider right down the middle, middle?

Oh that's ridiculous. Rule book clearly states batter is out if he "attempts" to bunt with 2 strikes and it's a foul ball.
What happened to Lorenzen is the same as if he just stood there normal and the pitcher hit his bat in any other manner.
That was absolutely not a bunt attempt. A batter can square around all he wants, as long as he pulls the bat back.

Evidently Tucker must be a poor defensive OF. Ervin replaced him in a straight defensive substitution tonight, and the Reds went with a utility INF/OF in Dixon instead of Tucker in a double switch last night.

The Yelich throw to home took away Hernandez' chance for a vulture win to pad his perfect W/L record and now he is in line to lose his first game of the year. The Reds have had only one of their 1st four pitchers have a game ERA below 11 tonight! Maybe they can finish strong and pull out a back and fourth game. How many blown saves will there be?

Is Iglesias spent? He hasn't been as sharp lately.

I call it sitonyourhandsatthedeadlineitis. The Reds frequently contract it.

Brandon Dixon has to be Rob Deer's nephew or something.
Because he either hits it to the moon, or misses it by 3 feet.

FSO ambient mics just picked up some excellent swearing from The Brewers in their high five celebration.

Po-si-tive momentum. Wouldn’t have been possible had we traded Harvey and Iglesias. We would be lost without them.

Definitely a dog days of summer donnybrook! A 256 minute contest(starting 27 minutes late after a rain delay). 15 runs scored in the 5th thru 7th innings, at least 7 for each team. Back and forth scoring: 0-2,1-2.3-2,3-5,7-5,7-6,10-6,10-10,10-11,11-11,11-13,12-13. 46 batters reached base by hit, BB, HBP, or error, 25 scored. 13 pitchers with 9 of them having a game ERA of 9 or higher. 4 of 7 inherited runners scored. All position players got in the game. What kind of "fun" like this will there be when rosters get expanded in September!

Way late here with a seemingly unpopular opinion from what I've read, but I thought the ump got the call right with Lorenzen. He obviously squared to bunt, but when the ball made contact with his bat I don't think you could call that a bunt attempt. He recoiled back to avoid getting hit and the ball just hit his bat. Routine foul and good call imo.

Agree. That was a tough one, though. I changed my mind on it a couple of times during the discussion.

To me it comes down to if it would have been a strike had the ball not hit his bat. And I don't think it was close, he was bailing out...it would have been a ball. So if that's the case it wasn't a bunt attempt, just an anything but routine foul ball lol.

The umpire gives an explanation of the bunt attempt. Apparently if you are pulling your bat back like Lorenzen was and it hits your bat then its not strike three and just a foul attempt. That's something I never knew or even thought about.
