It should be free. Why would anyone want to pay to watch this game? :)

Castillo with 3 Ks and no walks thru 2 perfect innings, but 26 pitches.

Trying to get as much of the game in before the NFL opener.

Dilson strikes out a lot, not quite sure what to make of that. Wasn't really a problem for him until this latest big league stint.

Given Castillo’s stuff, he should be able to avoid some of these homers. Just seems like there are lapses, suddenly a nothing burger very hittable. Maybe he’ll grow out of it, but he can do better.

Another homer to Mejias, that pitch had some mustard on it, but in the wheelhouse. 5-0 Padres. Error by Peraza didn’t help although not a routine play.

Is there a 2019 MLB draft prospect thread?

Castillo needs to show he can pitch out of the stretch to reach that next level.

Yeah, I was just going to comment. Last night in the ninth, he pinch hit with man on and had a similar at bat. Fell behind in the count with swing and miss. Needs to make some contact with men on base.

Maybe just too much adrenaline in those spots, but disappointing at bats both against LHP.

Cool, just in time to catch the Reds with the bases loaded, no outs.

Lol

Hopefully Detroit can beat St Louis tonight so we get a game closer to the 6th draft pick next year.

Tucker Barnhart should wear one of the old black helmets with a red bill while wearing the black catching gear.

Nope can't happen tonight. They aren't playing. That series starts tomorrow. Its the 50th anniversary of the Tigers winning the World Series weekend.

You know I didn't even know it was starting tonight until I was just happen to be watching PTI on ESPN. Used to I couldn't wait for the NFL to start. Now I could care less.

He spent last season between Daytona and Pensacola in the Reds system.

Not shocked to see an abbreviated home run derby vs Castillo, am shocked it against the Padres tho.

I don't know why he was let go, but unless he was traded, that is a pretty big goof to put all that chaff in the Reds farm system ahead of him (stock)

Couldn't agree more. After watching the scintillating product this Redleg organization has put on the field the last 6 months, Bears vs A-Rod at Lambeau Sunday night seems like such a bore.

He was a minor league free agent. Seems like he should have gotten 40 man protection with hindsight, but I can understand why he wasn't. Padres are great at turning these live arms into good bullpen pieces, basically the anti-Reds in that regard.

How does Ervin whiff on so many fastballs center cut?

Nothing new, just curious, earlier Lauer was just pumping them in straight as a string, as well.

Stock started his pro career as a catcher (2 way player in college) and later converted to pitcher fulltime, he has been wracked with minor injuries and has always had major control issues. He was signed by the Reds as a six-year minor league free agent to a one year deal, after spending a year in the INDY leagues. He pitched pretty well but it would have been extremely hard for the Reds to justify adding him to their 40 man roster last winter, which would have prevented him from reaching FA again.

The Pads signed him to a minor league deal and he started the year as a 28 year old in AA. His numbers look good right now because he throws super hard (has hit 100), but his minor league stats indicate there will be a lot more walks in his future. He's a west coast boy though, so maybe that thin ocean air will aid him in becoming a good big leaguer.

Dude is smart as hell, entered USC as a 16 year old. Would probably make a great coach some day.
