Really hope the first four in the order are a sign of things to come.

In addition to Senzel and Wood, I am interested to see Santillan.

This game will be on the MLB Network beginning at 4 pm in its entirety. Some interesting players to see in this one.

Mariners are clearly trolling Redszone by having EE, Shed, and Negron in the lineup. I am surprised they are not pitching Eric Bedard.https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D0Q5DnQVYAAkGVc.jpg

Wood finding his pitches getting returned with authority --- walk - WP - out - Encarnacion takes one off the wall --- out - Santana goes real deep in CF - out

Because of two spring training innings?

Couple of very competent defensive plays by Shed at 3rd. He looks hungry out there.

I have a theory that the more the announcers talk up Votto as an otherworldly hitter, the worse the outcome.

Starting from the beginning of the game.

Senzel is an athlete. He beat out a possible double play and stole a base.

Still behind. Mahle's control was not there today. I assume he's done.

The Reds game is now on MLBN.
Starting from the beginning of the game.

Not in the Northwest. Blacked out. Only on Seattle Root sports around here. Sucks because I recorded the one blacked out, but have it fixed now. But, I missed 8 runs and 4 innings.

JaxRed

Didn't see how the runner got on, but Lorenzen gave up a 2 run shot.

Ervin trying hard not to be forgotten in the OF mix, blasts a ball off the CF batter's eye.

Peralta has easiest inning of the Reds pitchers.

JaxRed

Despaigne struggling. SF scores run after bases were loaded with 0 outs. I think that was Senzel's first play. Routine. Followed by another that was a little tougher. Still pretty routine.

Reds should not give up on Ervin too quickly. He showed signs of improvement late last year. Too bad he seems to have outgrown CF. Not sure there's a spot for him but maybe he straddles AAA and the big league this year.

JaxRed
02-25-2019, 05:48 PM
You never know.... lots of stuff can happen. Puig and Kemp are scheduled to be gone after this year, Votto had a big downturn and is 35, Trammel and Siri have not conquered AA yet.

JaxRed
02-25-2019, 05:55 PM
Santillan worked a scoreless inning. Wasn't dominant but got the zero. Stephenson threw out a potential stealer...

JaxRed

Mella with a bad inning. Double to RF that was not well played by Williams. Then a walk, then a ground ball that AlfRod MIGHT have been able to make a diving stop followed by flip to second, but he didn't come up with it. Then a SF, then a 3 run bomb.

One of the things I took from the game today...watching Puig lumbering around in right field, trying to get to balls, boy, oh boy. The idea that he could actually play center field on a regular basis is completely out of the question. It will be Senzel or Schebler with Siri as a long, longshot.

Mella looked horrible. Very poor command. Not much velocity. Early rather than late movement. Professionals pound stuff like that

redsof72

I take it with a grain of salt this early, but the most impressive inning by a Reds pitcher so far this spring belongs to Peralta. Announcer commented he was at 97-98 in first game of the year. Throwing strikes, plenty of swings and misses. He showed up ready to battle for that last bullpen job. It will be tough for him with guys out of options in the same battle. I don’t think he has much of a chance, but he came to camp ready to fight.
