Here is a problem with this rule.

The away team has the 7,8,9 hitters up in that inning. The home team has the 2,3,4 hitters up.

Normally, the home team has a slight advantage. Put a runner on second, and the home team has a huge advantage.

I thought Wisler and Stephenson looked very good. I don't think the Reds have given up on Stephenson yet. Nor do I think Mahle is a lock for the 5th starter until Wood returns. Reds seem to be open to alternatives. Anything is possible including a bullpen day built around Wisler/Stephenson.
