Is there logic in letting pitchers bat in AZ, but not in Atlanta?

I'm guessing the starters are only getting a few ABs today and tomorrow so they probably wanted to let as many position players hit as possible.

According to Bell on the pregame show, he wants to play the starters most of the game tonight and just a few ABs in the day game tomorrow.

Suarez looked like he'd gotten under that one - it ends up over the wall in center

That kind of base running is going to push Marty into an early grave before he actually retires

Stephenson tough with breaking stuff but hitters seem all over the fastball.

Didn’t help his chances that inning.

Stephenson not doing himself any favors as he competes for a bullpen spot

Got the game on the TV on mute with the Jim Day Podcast going. The Sean Casey conversation is hilarious.

Votto just struck out looking at 3 straight pitches. I’m not sure that one was in the zone.

Winker drives in Iglesias for the second time. Winker may be getting his swing back late in the spring.

Strikes 1 & 2 was courtesy of the Glavine/Maddux/Smoltz strike zone. Strike 3 was borderline.

I know he had a shaky start, but R. Stephenson impressed me this game. He handled adversity well and had a nice bounce back second inning.

He may be a surprise bonus this year.

He didn’t wow me but I found myself thinking he kinda resembled a ho-hum MLB pitcher.

Baby steps.

The first two weren't even close. He got screwed. However...once you see twice how the ump's calling the outside corner, you'd best swing at the third pitch

The fact that you included the phrase “MLB pitcher” in your description, is big step forward for Stephenson.

re: Votto taking 3 strikes... this is a common occurrence when a player "knows the strike zone better than the umpire".

Sea Ray

I know it's just Spring Training but it sure seemed to me that the Braves pitchers were getting a much broader strike zone than our Reds
