Unusual batting orders and defensive alignments are only a part of it. Baseball is so different today, as compared to the 1950s and 1960s when I grew up - just read the SI article on baseball’s use of technology and analytics.

The game is getting much more sophisticated - whether it’s a better game to follow and watch, the jury is definitely still out.
