Talk about a crack of dawn lineup. It’s already been made? Is everyone but Votto and Suarez on permanent rotating starts?

I hope VanMeter gets a chance in the next few days. I was pretty impressed in his 1 AB he had and his approach to hitting. Drawing a walk after being down in the count in your first MLB AB says something.

I was hoping VanMeter would get a start today.

Some of these lineups look like Bell just pulls names from a hat and then the position they will play. These players have to be frustrated by all of this.

Does that seriously say Peraza in LF? Winker is never going to get better hitting lefties if you hide him on the bench against them. He's the current and likely future #3 hitter let him play and develop already. It may not be long before the players turn on Bell(if they haven't already).

NebraskaRed

Winker with the day off? The Reds will definitely be the most well-rested last place team...

Farmer at 2B over Van Meter? Peraza playing? Winker with a day off?

At least Senzel is leading off, so that's some progress. And the P at 9, where he should be.

Weird lineup. Even with going with as many RH hitters as possible, why is the best 2b in LF and a capable LF playing 2nd? That's just weird.

I'm not sure which I like less...these lineups or Dusty's Sunday Specials.

Farmer has not played in the outfield in the minors or majors as far as I can tell.

I saw Bell say in regards to dumping Kemp/Schebler that Dietrich and Peraza would be in line to get playing time there, but I didn't think they'd put Peraza out there so soon.

This is an odd wrap around 4 game series with it ending on a Monday afternoon. In days gone by there would have been a doubleheader on Sunday or a good ole fashion twi-nighter Friday evening. Ah... but those days are gone. You have to max out on the home dates to pay these big salaries so the owners wallet won't be too thin.

Hmmm just looked up VanMeter's splits. Granted its a small sample size and disparate from last year but still he is murdering LHP this year. .394AVE 6HR and 1.387OPS

Walter Sobchak: Huh? Oh, that's Cynthia's dog. I think it's a Pomeranian. I can't leave him home alone or he eats the furniture. I'm watching him while Cynthia and Marty Ackerman are in Hawaii.
The Dude: You brought the (deleted) Pomeranian bowling?

He originally signed with Georgia, but once their coach was fired UGA granted him a release. He then decided to play for UT, but since they were already maxed out on scholarships that year he had to walk-on for his first season.

yeah, I read that....but I am guessing he was not an elite...Top 25 type recruit.....because in basketball and football, they will find a scholarship when an elite recruit becomes available late. I do not know the baseball NCAA rules.....but in football, someone would be forced to become a blue shirt or grey shirt to open up a spot.

This is true. I had a cousin that played ball with Senzel at Farragut HS. Stud player, but I don't think he was really considered anything near a "Blue Chip" type guy.

Either way, the young man has developed into a big time talent. Fun to watch.

He was injured at the start of the season. He's only played 8 games in the minors.

Even then, he wouldn't have been worth an additional 4 wins this season. It's not likely that his 1.400 OPS (or whatever) will continue over a longer sample size.
