He's using Hoyle's Baseball Strategy Guide that's telling him you never play a lefty against a lefty. You play the guy that's hitting a buck eighty-five and never walks instead...duh!

IIRC, both Votto and Bruce had trouble with lefties at first, but learned to hit against them over time.

I watched a lot of Iglesias when he was in Detroit and I was pretty shocked when some downplayed his defense because of defensive metrics when the Reds signed him this offseason. Fangraphs defensive metrics are pretty worthless IMHO.
