No Dietrich or Winker tonight.

Since I live in the DC area I will have to watch the Nats broadcast. Bob Carpenter isn't bad but FP Santagelo is another story. Even though I live in the DC area I don't think I have watched the Nats at all this season. From what I have heard and read their bullpen has been a dumpster fire all season. So if the Reds can hang close early they will have a good shot late to win these games.

Peraza has an ops of .566 vs LHP this year. Is there a reason why VanMeter isn't allowed to start? The last time he started a game was May 22 where he went 1-3 with a double, a BB, and 2 RBI. At this point I'd rather Peraza's playing time go to VanMeter even against LHP.

sorry, onehandedness strikes... Joey's last 5 games were day games. His splits days vs nights is about .150 higher. He could be struggling with a slight loss of night vision. Imperceptible changes to the average 35 year old, but may be enough to keep him from seeing the pitches like he used to...

I have wondered that on occasion. He’s in tremendous physical condition. I’d be willing to bet his struggles have been due to vision (and mental stuff).

I did notice his day night split yesterday. If the Reds can isolate a sub series of situations where he still excels that is a good thing. Joey just singled. Sun still up.

Senzel at the top of the order is just what this team has needed forever. He gets on base, has pop and can run (and I haven't noticed any TOOTBLANS). He's the best lead-off guy this team has had since Rose IMO.

Within a year, he'll probably be the best candidate for every spot in the batting order. I doubt he stays leading off long term, but the Reds have other guys who can hit lower in the order. Senzel seems the best answer at the top by a wide margin. Maybe when (if) Trammell arrives, they should move Senzel down.

That year I so wanted Votto to bat second. Choo had a .423 obp and Votto had .435 obp. With those stats, they would have the first two batters on base almost 1 out of every 5 games.

Instead, we played most of the year with I believe Cozart and his .284 obp batting second.

Agree but bottom line the rest of the Reds lineup just didn’t do them justice. Bruce OPS’d over .800 but, if I recall, was very streaky. Reds just didn’t give Votto and Choo enough support.

They have been ripping them (well deserved) for a number of things - the building (or lack of) a bullpen, the defense and the ownerships moves last year that stopped them from getting anything for Harper before he walked (there was a deal to Houston that the ownership blocked).

Same here when they play Atlanta.. I'm in SC. I don't mind Atlanta's broadcasters..

I remember a game way back in 1981 (I think) on TBS. It was when the only good thing on TV was a Braves game. It was a close game the Braves were losing and Rick Camp, a notoriously bad hitting pitcher, came up to bat. One of the announcers noticed how the left-fielder was playing way off the line in left center and stated that it would be great if Camp could hit one down the line. He'd be sure to get a double. He then followed that up by saying, "stranger things have happened." The other announcer immediately chimed in, "no they haven't."
Braves announcers were entertaining even way back then.

Reds don’t agree and are leaving Mahle in.

They have been ripping them (well deserved) for a number of things - the building (or lack of) a bullpen, the defense and the ownerships moves last year that stopped them from getting anything for Harper before he walked (there was a deal to Houston that the ownership blocked).

I don't follow other teams as much as I used to.. I might start again someday..

On replay the center fielder had the ball in short center before Senzel had reached third base. 3rd base coach should've held him.

Senzel made sure the line drive went thru, and not planning to go home with none out and cruising into 3rd. JR House signaled him around, and Senzel then kicked into gear, but was out at home. Fault with both. Was House trying to teach Senzel a lesson for not going full bore once he saw the ball thru the infield? Or just poor judgement on House's part? I thought it was proper baseball acumen by Senzel on not trying for home, but is it his decision to make to take it easy?
