I have a hard time accepting that Farmer and Ervin give us a better chance of winning than Dietrich and Winker. I know there are numbers that support it, but I’d like to see the platoons ditched for a week and see what happens.

So do I...at least when it means Dietrich and Winker sit the game out entirely, or are lucky to get to PH.

I really do agree with Thom and Chris here for once but it's way better for the fans. It's hard to get up and go to a game enough as is without the threat of the game being delayed or getting canceled. Just doesnt make sense to me to not have one.

A lot of cities retractable roofs aren't necessary

Big Klu
06-17-2019, 07:57 PM
Milwaukee did not build a stadium with a roof because of rain. They did it because you never know if you're going to get snow in Wisconsin in April.

I am glad the Reds do not have a retractable roof. I have been to Miller Park; it is a different experience, but it did not feel like a baseball field. It felt like a large arena or airplane hangar, or maybe a warehouse. (And that was with the roof open.)

NebraskaRed
06-17-2019, 07:57 PM
Milwaukee will have threats of snow early (and maybe later) in the season much more often than Cincinnati will. So, however many games get delayed/postponed a year in Cincinnati does not warrant the cost of building and maintaining the dome.

Agreed. milwaukee's a good sports town and I guess in that climate a roof makes sense, But it sure doesn't feel like County Stadium. Even the brats don't taste the same.

Does their current park have grass possible with the retractable? I think the original dome was to make the atmosphere more comfortable than the natural heat, humidity, and mosquitoes. I can remember the Reds broadcasts at the Colt 45s, when they referred to mosquitoes there that could carry away small animals!

Need to start opening that window.

If we had the normal injuries to starting pitching, we'd be in a lot of trouble with only Sims seemingly capable of throwing some decents start.

We need to move a quality bat for a quality Starting Pitcher we'll have control over for at least the next three years.

Yes, they have grass in their current stadium.

One of my history professors in college was Charles Alexander, the author and noted baseball historian. He was a native of Beaumont, Texas, and he told us that the stories of the mosquitoes at Colt Stadium were 100% true. Evidently they grow the skeeters big in East Texas.

It's my working assumption that all sports announcers, commentators, and writers are frustrated wannabe athletes who are deeply envious of the players they cover, and so take any and all opportunity to bag on said athletes just to make themselves feel better.

That's the thing. In one way I agree with Thom, Luis has gotta cut the walks down.

But he's still pitching like an ace, he IS or ace, he's shutting ing down a team with a .667 winning percentage.
