Gotta say, that lineup has a 7-game winning streak written all over it. Because that's an incredible pinch-hitting bench.

As long as Raisal doesn'r lose another game, no reason 7 in a row can't be done.

Once again, I voice my disapproval of the pitcher batting 8th.

Otherwise, I like it. (Though I might move J. Iglesias to #2, and bump Votto, Suarez, and Puig down one spot.)

I guess the Reds see Winker only as a platoon outfielder. Another win for the Reds front office. For years all we heard about was the sweet swing of Jessie Winker and he’s never played a full season and they’ve already penciled him in as a platoon guy. He had less than 162 MLB games prior to this year. What went wrong with his development for the reds to give up on him?The worst part is this offseason they’ll buy out his arbitration years and lock him up through 2028. Play him every day Bell.

Normally, I'd be with you on this. But I'm strangely OK with this line-up. I can't explain it...unless Ervin is about to go supernova.

The lineup isn’t bad to try and win one game. If we had a realistic shot at the playoffs and had a winning record the lineup would be great. Chances are we’re going to finish in last place so I think developing Winker is more important. We also need to develop Ervin in Louisville. We have to move Puig in July and then it’s Ervin’s job for the rest of the year.

What is the reasoning for hitting the pitcher 8th because he doesn’t do it every game. I may be old school but logic tells me the 8 hole with bat more throughout the season than 9 hole. It doesn’t make any sense to me.

That's a good question. The pitcher often hit 8th early in the season, then the Reds went away from it and he hit 9th. Now they are going back to hitting him 8th again. What is the reasoning? I don't know...

The Reds pitcher usually only gets 2 ABs in the game so pinch hitters will be in the 8 hole after the pitcher is pulled.

The only reason I can think of right now

I'm not sure the poster was proposing on wanting Billy back on the team. His plate value was dismal. But you can't deny that he added a lot of excitement with his unequaled(IMO) defense in CF and his excitement on the bases(when he could get on base). Many times, I've said that "Billy would have caught that ball" on tough balls in CF. With that being said, I woudn't trade Billy back for anyone non pitcher on the current squad.

Scooter gets that 1.5 inch outside pitch called a strike more than any regular player I can remember

Its not out side, the whole ball has to be outside the box. The strike zone is is more than 19 inches wide from middle of the ball to middle of the ball. Bring on the electronic called strikes. The worst thing is the box they draw is only 21" high, which I don't think is anywhere close to what the rules call for.
