Of course, this probably means that he'll no hit the Reds into the 8th.

it also warms the heart knowing suarez is just entering his prime at the age of 27, and the reds have him locked up for the next 5.5 years at a very team-friendly rate.
it's pretty much the opposite of all the other long-term contracts the reds handed out prior to the suarez signing. they do seem to be learning though. sonny gray's contract is looking very tasty as well for the reds.

yes, 4-years/$16 million is more palatable than 4-years, $28 million. but both were/are bad contracts, and at least mesoraco had a high ceiling. there was no reason to rush to sign barnhart to a 4-year contract imo when he still had 2 arb years left. he's a decent mlb backup catcher. you shouldn't give $16 million to a guy like that, especially when you're a small market team.
edit: actually, i just looked it up and i need to correct myself. i did not realize the final year (4th year -- 2022) was a club option, with just a small buyout of $500K. so, the contract is really 3-years, $10.25 million. not as bad as i thought. barnhart is scheduled to make $7.5 million in 2022 if the reds pick up the option, and the chances of that happening are zero. so, my fault on that.

So you are saying due to the speed of the game, even though Hendricks tops out about 89, that it is very difficult for most hitters to be looking inside and the pitch is low outside, to drop the bat head outside and get good enough wood on the ball to line it into RF?

So you are saying due to the speed of the game, even though Hendricks tops out about 89, that it is very difficult for most hitters to be looking inside and the pitch is low outside, to drop the bat head outside and get good enough wood on the ball to line it into RF?
Based in the number of 87 mph fastballs he’s gotten by our hitters....yes. I just feel he was waiting for his pitch and trying to foul off any pitcher’s strikes.

I think that's how a lot of hitters are hurting their teams success, by waiting too much for "their pitch" and not getting it and making an out, instead of adjusting to the pitch and hitting it whee it is, especially with the shifts, to keep the line moving, instead of going for the HRs.
