Nick Senzel (hamstring) did not start for the fourth straight game on Sunday. After missing Thursday and Friday’s games, Senzel entered Saturday's 3-2 Reds victory as a pinch-runner and played an inning in center field.

“We’re going to give it one more day just to be sure, with the heat and a day game,” Reds manager David Bell said. “He wants to play so bad.”

Bell noted that Senzel would again be available off the bench. The rookie left Wednesday’s game vs. the Cubs with hamstring tightness.

OK, my opinions on today's 1961 uniforms:

Caps: Very good! I've never really been a fan of the oval C, but overall not bad.

Helmets: Disappointing. Should have had white helmets for today, like the 1961 team had.

Jerseys: Very good! Also never been a fan of pinstripes but again, not bad overall. The red undershirts look very nice. Only a select few should go sleeveless, though. (And I would submit that none of them should, since Klu didn't play on the '61 team.)

Pants: Outstanding! It appears everyone is wearing their pants at the proper length. Everyone should be in stirrups, though. (Looking at you, Disco!)

Overall: Outstanding! My second-favorite so far, after the 1956 uniform. I would prefer the wishbone-C, but I know this is historically accurate.

The 1961 Reds were 93-61, and won the National League. The Reds lost to the Yankees in the World Series, 4 games to 1. The Reds were managed by Fred Hutchinson.

The Reds had the day off on July 21, 1961. It would seem plausible that the scheduled game was rained out, as July 21 was a Friday, and the Reds played at home vs. the Giants on Saturday and a doubleheader on Sunday (possibly a makeup game).

The lineup for Saturday, July 22, an 8-3 loss at Crosley Field vs. the Giants that extended the Reds' losing streak to six (all at home):

Eddie Kasko ss
Don Blasingame 2b
Vada Pinson cf

Seem very well prepared to exploit tendencies and weak spots.

I agree how hard it is to catch a ball when you are running at absolute full speed. While Puig normally often goes very fast, much faster than my absolute fastest burst in my prime would be, I think he has a speed higher than we mostly see that we would see if he was going his normally fast speed we see if he miss-timed it a bit and put a sharp burst on it to give a last gas effort. Then he might fumble one. Those absolute fast bursts can be very injurious. The last time I tried one, about six years ago while running fast, Hornets attacked and I tried to kick it up and blew out my left calf!

OK, my opinions on today's 1961 uniforms:

Caps: Very good! Never been particularly a fan of the oval C, but overall not bad.

Most of this is why I said I wish they’d adopt the 1960 uniform as their modern ones, because it’s basically the same as this one but with the wishbone C. Looks very clean and classic.
