It may be but it is the same ball used in MLB.
They made the change to begin the 2019 season.

Yes, but MLB has a little bit better pitching than AAA.

ok, then make the point about pitching because the "juiced ball" is irrelevant to the point trying to be made. I assume it was mostly an attempt to diminish Aquino and had little to nothing to do with whether the ball was juiced.

If you would have told me one year ago (08/02/18), a day where Mahle made it 1.2 innings and we gave up 10 runs in a loss to the Nationals, that at some point next season our rotation would include Luis Castillo, Trevor Bauer, Sonny Gray and Alex Wood....there is no chance I would have believed it.

AAA OPS is up by like 200 points from 2018 to 2019. It’s a combination of the juiced ball and bad pitching.

Aquino has absolutely done well because of the above, just like every other hitter.

I did, and I stand by that comment. Aquino was so bad in 2018 he was DFA’d. All of a sudden at AAA he’s crushing the ball, which coincides with the juiced ball.

Of course inferior pitching has to do with the juiced ball.

honestly, I am at a loss for how you do not see the contradiction in the position from your post last night. Beyond that, your posts suggest he has never hit the ball with power in the past....in 2016 in Daytona (A+) he hit 23 HR's (not a park or league known for massive HR numbers), in 2017 and 2018 in Pensacola he hit 17 & 20 HR's....then hit 28 this year in Louisville (AAA). Nothing there really screams aberration for someone at his age and getting stronger in regards to the power he has displayed over his career. My understanding is he has always shown power with different balls.

It’s been reported that in spring training, Aquino worked with Josh VanMeter and Reds coaches to change his stance, swing and approach. The big difference is not his power, but his on base abilities. He shorted his swing and worked on making more contact.

I said he was the crushing the ball, as in he was hitting really well.

Here are his OPS’s from AA the previous 2 years (he repeated it) before going hog wild at AAA:

2017: 678
2018: 754

And then he gets DFA’d and immediately resigned by Reds and puts up following at AAA in 2019: 992

One of these is unlike the others.

I liked him when he was hitting home runs and batting above his weight. But it didn't look like he was ever going to get it going last year and he really didn't. It's cool to see him doing what he's doing although not so cool against us. I think it's also pretty much a given that with 0 walks and 9 strikeouts in 30 plate appearances it will go in the opposite direction for him fairly soon.

As I recall the general sentiment here was shock that we got 3 players back for him.

They were bad the first game too although it was rain shortened and we know they haven't been very good most of the year so it makes some sense. I'd expect a good amount of games like this going forward with all the young hitters we have in the line up right now.

I'd say I'm bearish on the offense the rest of the way but those 6 innings against Fried and 6 (so far) against Keuchel just don't feel like a huge deal yet. Need a bigger sample size to tell if things are really going to be dire.

The problem is it’s not scoring 6 runs a game like the BRM did. Which they didn’t. Not is it 1994 or 1999 good when they were scoring 6 runs a game. But they didn’t.

They have had a top 3 offense since the ASB but that bad first half is still on everyone’s thought process.
