Well, I hope Sonny can beat his splits. He's not too grand in day games nor away games. Occasionally the splits are meaningless. Let's hope this is one such game and he tosses a CGSO and Reds batters score a minimum of one.. a 1-0 win counts exactly the same as a 50-0 win.. That's always seemed unfair somehow.. :p
In the "not so spiffy" column for Gray Atlanta has 7 batters apparently hitting .333 against him.. That's not all that encouraging.

Nope. I’m one of the play Ervin while he was hot guys.....he’s no longer hot. Play him vs lefties most of the time and have him ready as a very good PH vs lefties later in the game. He’s back to what we think he is.

Exactly what I meant. There are some here who seemed to think he should be handed RF every day for the rest of the season after Puig was gone. I figured they'd be on here losing their minds about him sitting after he went deep last night.

I also like it, as long as it remains an alternate look and they still wear their all-gray road unis with regularity. There are some clubs (Pirates, Indians, Brewers, and Rockies for example) where I wonder if they still even have a gray road jersey.

They need to get rid of the road caps (red w/black bill), though. All-red caps for home and away.

The red cap w/black bill is a holdover from the Ken Griffey Jr. years, when it was actually the home cap.

I would recommend a white cap w/red bill (similar to the 1957 home cap) as a home alternate, and a gray cap w/red bill (similar to the 1961 road cap, but with a wishbone-C) as a road alternate.

I’d love a strictly red and white color palette. But I know there is a demand for alternates. I’ve wondered how it would play if they reverted back to the 69-71 uniforms but had a red alternate like today’s shirt with blue highlights instead of black. Pair it with the 1940 navy blue hat with red bill

Man, Dietrich is struggling.

I actually like the white cap (and a gray variation for road uniforms), but I wouldn't want it to be the regular cap -- just an alternate. I would prefer both white and gray caps to be matched with sleeveless alternate uniforms -- like the 1957 home or the 1961 road uniforms.

Agreed. Certainly not perfect, but he didn't chase anything too out of the zone. The ump has not been too consistent. I'm guessing the pitch he fouled for strike 2 would have been called a strike. Strike 3 was outside, but only by a few inches

Stupid rule question - what if Sonny had bunted and immediately ran to the dugout? Would he have been immediately declared out and the force play would then be off at home? I don’t know if home to first is different but every other basepath is not predetermined. Rather it is determined by the runner. There’s some oddball play that a college team ran called skunk in the outfield where the runner on first ran into right. He wasn’t declared out because that move established the base path. I think the point of it was to score a runner at third and confuse the infield. A major league infield wouldn’t be confused by this.
