Glad to see VanMeter in the lineup. It is kind of unfair to only get at bats as a pinch hitter and be expected to be consistent.

Figure they have to make a bullpen move, right? Will be shocked if Hernandez isn’t IL’d and a fresh arm recalled. If not today, probably this weekend.

I want to ask Bell, what analytical data says sit a guy who just had very good AB`s and had 4 hits and is hot, sitting your way best SS who has played lights out defense and a very good stick in a very meanigful series??? My gut says Aquino struck out 3 times because he started swinging at bad pitches after his big double and homer. The Cubs adjusted and Aquino didnt lay off those pitches. Ervin had better AB's. Nothing ag Aquino. Also Peraza was awful defensive wise when switched to SS. Did Bell watch the same game???? Goodness!!!. Stuff like this bugs me with him as manager. I know Pete Rose had his off field issues but his game sense was smart. No way Rose sits both guys. Not to mention Votto was awful and i give Dietrich a chance.

Its like guys who fail doing their jobs have a way longer leash under Bell. Shreber earlier this season, Hernandez now and Peraza as a SS. Dont need analytical data just open your eyes. I would have used Lorenzen over Hernandez with the game 7-5 and still a shot to come back. Once Hernandez was in my gut said, "Big series and thats who your going with"????

Hi. New member here. Reds fan as far back as I can remember (I'm 56). Love the site and the game threads. Been following for about a month now.

Looking at the line-up, I've gotta say there have been many times this year I don't quite understand Bell's decisions. I understand analytics is the thing these days, but I'm in agreement that things like sitting a hot player goes against common sense. I think to be a great manager, you also have to use your instinct and go against the stats occasionally. Baseball's got a little bit of magic to it too.

I can't believe anyone railed on Bauer after his last performance. This crowd would razz Babe Ruth for taking too long to get around the bases.

People can question Trevor Bauer's character (looking at you, Thom), or they can say he's eccentric, or borderline insane. I don't care. He is a legitimate #1 talent, and I can't think of any reason why I wouldn't want him on my team.

Keep this in mind as well.. a lot of us, me included, weren't thrilled with trading Trammell. But with the emergence of Aquino, IF he can continue to slug it the way he has once the league makes its adjustment to him, then trading away Trammell and Puig for Bauer (and Aqunio now getting his shot) looks like a pretty sweet deal for Reds imo.
