Why is it that the Reds always seem to release their starting lineup before the other team? I always thought it was a home and away thing but that doesn't see to be the case.

Also FWIW this is surprisingly a nearly pickem game with 538 having the Nats by 52%. Some have even picked the Reds.

"We can tell you Hartstein loves the Reds (-106) at Washington in a 7:05 p.m. ET start. And he has a great feel for both teams: Hartstein is 34-18 in his last 52 picks involving Cincinnati, 27-14 in his last 41 involving Washington."

Guessing Soto maybe out today after he left yesterday with a sprained ankle might have something to do with it. That and Fedde pitching.

Bell oversight

from what I've read, Bell usually makes the lineup the night before, so that's probably why.

This is a playoff team - huge week ahead. Need at least 5 wins this week. Tonight is a great matchup. Washington used a lot of bullpen guys this weekend. Hudson probably won't be available out of the pen. No Soto. Need good outing from Anthony - 7 innings then Stephenson for 1 then Iglesias to finish. Unless we get lucky and have a big lead. Nats pen is terrible - lets hope they get in the pen by the end of the 6th.

With Garrett out and Lorenzen scuffling (and needing rest) Disco is probably the worst guy in the rotation to start right now. Need to hope the offense can get a big lead and the soft underbelly of the pen (Romano, Gausman, Sims, Stephenson) can limp this one home.

Every fan thinks their third base coach is the worst of all time.

The advanced metrics on base-running support the idea that the REDS have major issues with base-running decisions....not ability, but decisions. If this isn't the 3rd-base Coach's job, then what is his job?

- - - Updated - - -

Reds are sixth-worst in MLB this year for outs at home. Some of those are not "send" decisions, but they've got 20 of them. Boston is last with 29.

Total number doesn't matter. percentage matters.

Yeah, I'm only watching GameDay, but I sensed it coming.

Bottom line: Disco needs to be replaced for this team to make a legit move next year.

And---as I stated---a LHP is what they need.

I never bought the top of the rotation talk with him. He's a back end guy and given how those guys generally pitch everywhere, there are worse choices. He's not the guy to save the pen. He's the guy you nurse through 5 or 6 innings and hope you get him out of there before he blows up. It's why the other guys need to give more innings. That less than 6 inning average doesn't mean every pitcher should average less than 6 as some on Redszone would have you believe. Some of the guys in that average are openers who only go an inning or two. Top guys need to go longer.

I think you are either a good starting pitcher or you are a bad starting pitcher.....I have always found the statement "he is solid for the 5th pitcher in the rotation" silly at best. It is not like the 5th guy only pitches once every 2 weeks....he still has to take the mound every 5 days/games just like the 1st pitcher in the rotation does.

Mariano Duncan wore #7 in his first stint with the Reds (1989-91).

In August, 1995 (right around this time of the year), Duncan was claimed off waivers from the Phillies. #7 was already being worn by OF Darren Lewis, so Duncan was given #44. After a few days, he changed numbers to #77. (If he couldn't wear 7, he would wear double-7!)

He's only making $2.1 Million this year. Coming into tonight, his ERA+ was 110 (above average) through 22 starts. No way he gets 10 Million in Arb. If that is what he projects, I agree, move on. I'm guessing 5 Million tops and he's fine for a year at that cost.

They need more than marginal improvements to the offense. They also need significant improvements to the bullpen. I just think it's going to be hard to find an upgrade.
