It's strange the Reds took the field in Washington the other day without a CFer then Lorenzen ran out of the bullpen to play the position.

I think that does explain the early pitch count but a good amount of the damage come off breaking stuff. The big blow of the Fowler HR was obviously a fastball but the pitches before it were fastballs as well.

I just don't think Castillo had much after the Fowler HR. Don't think he should have been sent out for the 5th.

No Votto, Winker, Gennett, Puig. It’s Suarez, rookies, and middle infielders/catchers.
We’re a long way from having a team that can contend. We just have too many holes and it’s frustrating.

There’s some talent but step back and take it in. This lineup isn’t winning anything.

I think that Cubs loss might have done more mental damage than losing any vets (and they did add Gausman and Galvis). But overall I find it hard to believe Bauer or Castillo getting rocked (or Disco) had any larger effect, they just each had a tough go of it.

It hasn’t been a good week but their efforts so far this year should have had us in better than 4th place. The season is really in the offense or lack of offense. It would be very depressing going into next year if the starting pitching falls apart. Hope it’s just a bad week.

I thought that was clearly an error.....it reminds me of when Lonzo Ball was a rookie with the Lakers....he would make a simple chest pass to someone on the post....the guy in the post would give two head fakes....take a few dribbles...then a few more head fakes and finally score a basket, and the Lakers scorekeeper would give Ball an assist.

I think it clearly looked like an error. But I think that once Carpenter backed up on the ball, there was no way he was going to throw Senzel out -- even if he fielded it cleanly. So it was ruled a hit.
