I never really get worked up over the lineup from one day to the next but even I am starting to scratch my head over the constant shuffling around in the order.

Usually it relates to lefty/righty.

Today Pads are pitching lefty Strahm.

So Reds are using a primarily RHH lineup - with one exception, Van Meter.

VM is a lefty facing a LHP, so he bats eighth. A full RH lineup would have Farmer if they could work out the positions for everyone. If Votto was healthy he’d be at first and the lineup would look more typical.

I mean I can’t be mad at him for it but he annoyed me with one of his swings yesterday where was trying to hit it across the river. He seems confident at this point - hopefully Luis makes him look silly.

I am definitely not a go to guy in projecting baseball talent or performance, but I see nothing from either guy that leads be to believe either are likely to turn into a poor hitter batting .230. They may have come up at the same time and be about the same age, but Senzel had about 900 minor league AB and VanMeter had over 2200, so it could just be that VanMeter is a little bit more mature in his approach due to seeing all of those extra at bats before coming up.

This is after multiple win now moves were made. Any team that gives up 4 top 10 prospects in one year should be at the very least in contention.
