It is ugly, but they called these guys up....so had to assume they would use them.....and that is what this looks like.

You know I don't have a problem of who is in the line up but where some of them are batting. Barnhart 4th? Pitcher batting 8th? All that shows me is that the manager is saying he is the smartest man in the room and I can bat the pitcher 8th and win no matter what.

Pitcher batting 8th is asinine

Especially the worst-hitting pitcher we have.

But I have noticed that Bell is more likely to bat the pitcher 8th against a top-of-the-rotation type of pitcher, like Nola.

To me there is 0 excuse for a guy like Tucker Barnhart hitting 4th for a major league team. Especially one that shipped off their best prospects within the calendar year. Just unacceptable

Sea Ray
09-04-2019, 03:44 PM
Here's the thing...Tucker Barnhart is not even a starter on a decent team. If he does start for any team, he's a #8 hitter. Putting him in as your cleanup hitter is this:

When the pitcher is the worst hitting, that's when its most valuable not to bat him #9 so he doesn't kill the inning when it starts with #9!

On the subject of keeping it fair, I was mystified how Aquino's grounder stayed fair. It mysteriously straightened out on the 2nd hop. It went about a foot closer to the line between hops one and two, but hops 3 and 4 were a little bit further from the line than the 2nd hop.

I agree. I would even go so far as to say cringe worthy.

When you're pitching well, it's called a quirky personality. If you're getting bombed, you can be called a clubhouse cancer. It wasn't "bad luck" that led to his 4 run 5th inning. It was his nibbling that led to 3 ball counts that led to the hitter launching on his pitches. I hope our pitching coaches explain this to him in private.
