Just thought I would post this since this is Marty's last games. Let's hope he say, "And this One belongs to the Reds" three more times.

Or maybe the Cubs could just keep losing their games.

Cubs are playing the Pirates. My guess is they sweep. If the Reds take care of business the last series of the year will be big for Brewers and Cubs.

Gray with his 200th K of the year.

Also, this will be Gray's last start of the year.

Votto double Aquino double Barnhart single!

mhs95_06
09-24-2019, 06:58 PM
What a strange looking RBI hit by Aquino in that it first hit the bat about 14" from the end and slid, as the swing continued, right down to nearly the end of the bat before it came off and dropped in to short LCF.

I've been listening to Marty a lot lately, and he's been far less negative, especially about Votto. Maybe he realized he was far too negative about Votto for the past several years now that he's at the end of his career. Who knows.

Marty says at the end of the 2nd that the Reds trail early, 4-3! Where did that come from?

I was wondering if I heard that right or if I missed an inning somehow. That isn’t even the hit total is it?

When Marty and Thom are together, Thom's weaknesses as a broadcaster are really highlighted

Sonny Gray is the first Reds pitcher since at least 1908 to make 25+ starts in a season and not allow more than 4 runs in any start.

Why didn't they go to 2nd to still get a DP and have the tying run at 1st instead of scoring position? Suarez is pretty slow and they got Aquino by a mile at 1st.

They got Casali for the 3rd out so it worked out, still in the lead 3-2.

The 2019 Reds commitment to scoring in the first inning and then not again for several more innings is one of the stranger ticks I can recall any Reds team having.

If I were to predict an unexpected player to be moved this off-season it would be Garrett.

I seen Aquino in person 3 games in Pensacola and he gunned a runner out at home in each game. Each throw was over hand and accurate with a outstanding tgrow. Never seen him throw with a slight sidearm throw just like he just did

That would be unexpected. The problem with that is that LH relievers are among their greatest needs.

Garrett's "all sliders all the time" strategy fails again.

Isnt the catcher supposed to call the signs either from the dugout or by the catcher himself? Why isnt this addressed by the manager?

LOL. There's another one of those pitches that's a "ball" because the catcher didn't handle it well. Right in the zone.

This game is so 2019: Another 1-run game. Another game where they score in the first and then do nothing the rest of the game. Another game where the pitching is pretty good/great but they're losing anyway because of no offense.

Casali is a backup catcher with 8 HR and 32 RBI in 195 AB. 744 OPS. Not sure what more you wish a backup catcher would do since he is only a backup. But sure. F him for being just more than a capable backup.

I was wrong about the Dodgers, they only have 1460 so far this year. But three other teams have more than the Reds 1511 this year:

Astros - 1619
Red Sox - 1587
Rays - 1576
