Additionally is the whisper we've heard that maybe Lewis is a Dallas target not as the Cowboys' head coach, but rather as a defensive coordinator who would serve as the right-hand man - maybe even as the "assistant head coach'' of a new Dallas head coach who would benefit from the 61-year-old Lewis' vast experience.
This doesn't sound like much to me. I seriously doubt Jerry was shopping coordinators before he had his head coach. If it's true then it means Marvin wasn't even interviewed for the Dallas Head coach job.

Sucks for Mississippi State. Have to think the Browns will go with McDaniels.
Judge is also looking at Clappy as OC. Kinda thought Garrett would have gotten the head gig.

I thought people here were making it up when I read that Marvin Lewis was insisting that Hue Jackson was a package deal if anyone planned on hiring him as a HC.
But sure enough... he actually said that.
So yeah, pretty sure you can cross off Marvin Lewis from ever being a HC again, at any level.
And as a sidenote, how dumb is that? I mean, just say "I need to pick my own staff."

According to Screamin A Smith, Marvin probably won’t get another job but for a completely different reason.
The Rooney Rule is essentially treated by the NFL the same as the iTunes terms and conditions.

Clueless writer who's probably never even stepped foot in Ohio. He can;t even spell Cincinnati right:
...is there any way that the Saints, who hail from Joe Burrow’s new-home by adoption, steal the talented young prospect from the grip of the Cincinatti Bengals who hail from his original home of Ohio?
If we already had our QB, sure but seeing as how our need for QB is as great as anyone's the answer is no. This is our chance to get the QB of the next 15 yrs here in Cincinnati.
Actually the team I picture that'd be drooling for Joe Burrow is the NE Patriots. I'd think Belichick would move mountains for Burrow

Drafttek website's trade values chart (https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp?RequestTeam=no)
Not sure if this is the exact chart teams use on draft day, but it's probably a great approximation. According to this chart, the proposal for NO to trade up to get 1-1 from CIN is ridiculously low.
In no way should the Bengals trade out of the pick. Burrow is the franchise QB they've needed for a decade or more now. But going by the chart linked above, a fair deal would be if Miami offered 1-5, 1-18, 2-56, and 3-70 for the Bengals 1-1 and 4-97 picks.
If the Bengals ever considered that, they should draft Burrow and if Herbert is there at 5, only then make that deal. But again, they're morons if they don't draft and keep Burrow.

It was already a 1 possession game. They were down 8.
The odds of gaining 6 inches on that play are probably over 90%, especially with Lamar, and a TD is much more valuable than a FG. Going for it in situations like that is what the Ravens have done all year, and it's obviously gone well for them. Just hasn't worked today. Titans made a great play on the first one. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28467215/lamar-jackson-struggles-top-seeded-ravens-shocked-titans ...
Jackson wasn't sharp in throwing high and behind receivers against a Titans defense that rarely blitzed him.
He finished 21/59 passing for 365 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. He threw the ball almost 60 times for an average of 6 yds/attempt, and completing only 1/3 of them. For the most part, that has been their passing game (attack) during the regular season. Not saying Jackson can't (and hasn't) thrown the ball downfield, but his accuracy dips, and that has been the knock on him.
Plus, Ingram was hurt, and they abandoned the run game in the second half, became pretty one dimensional. Uncharacteristic when you look at this team during the regular season.
And this morning everyone is now talking how this makes him 0-2 in the post-season, both first round exits, and that he has five turnovers. What could this mean? IMO, not much. Not at this stage of his young career. He's been in the league two years - and led his team to the post-season in both. A lot of QBs in the league would like to be in his shoes.
Jackson's a talent. And IMO, it's all about having the right offensive scheme (players) for him to excel, maximize his talents (while minimizing any weaknesses). The only concern most have with run-option QBs (other then in some areas of the passing game) is health/injury and beating they will take each and every week.
But when it comes to the AFC North, Cin/Clev are facing up against two organizations that, even if they go through some "regression" (aging players, etc), or fall short, their organizations will aggressively address those weaknesses not simply because they want to win - but know how to win. They don't "sit on their hands".
Could be interesting with three Heisman QBs in the AFC North.

Could be interesting with three Heisman QBs in the AFC North.
Jackson actually completed 31 of his 59 passing attempts, which still isn't very good, and while watching the game it felt as if his passing percentage was less than that. Almost every time the Ravens threatened to get in the endzone, the Titans stopped them. Jackson had more than 500 combined yards, yet the Ravens only scored 12 points.
Jackson is still a remarkable QB, and I expect he will have many more chances.
Assuming the Bengals draft Burrow and RGIII remains a backup at Baltimore, there will be four Heisman QBs in the AFC North.

Pretty much everyone on the offensive side of the ball crapped the bed tonight for Baltimore and Tennessee executed their game plan. The puzzle pieces will start to come together next year in the NFL with this offense.
As for the game on Jackson's first INT, everyone wants to talk about how the receiver dropped it (it wasn't a perfect pass but prolly should've been caught), Jackson commits just a really, really dumb personal foul and you could see his night was going to be long. It was in his head from the beginning. Then on their first 4th and 1, Jackson, instead of following the guard, runs right into the back of the guard and gets stuffed. I don't even know what he was thinking. Just another dumb play.
And then, after the Titans go up 14-0, it was the possession of the night for Baltimore. They pass 3 times and go 3 and out! Inexcusable. Pretty much set the tone for the rest of the night with their play calling. Roman had a terrible night. Of course, Ingram was injured and so was Andrews. But then again, I TALKED ABOUT THIS ALL YEAR. Everything was perfectly lined up for Lamar this season with everyone healthy. And then they're not and Lamar has to pass more to win.
You can talk about the receivers dropping passes and rightfully so, but man how many wobbly ducks were thrown up too? Just awful, awful passes. Jackson was shook after that initial interception. And then the dumbest play of the night was his 4th and 1 "QB Sneak." Just incredibly stupid. His lack of intelligence really showed up tonight.
The real issue tonight was that Jackson passed 56 times. If that happens, Baltimore is always going to be toast, as will most teams.

It certainly was an odd play...what was Jackson looking for with all that dancing? I think he wanted to score instead of just getting the conversion.
Yes, it would be one score with a two point conversion. But I think the two point try is being used too early in recent years. I am going to get points out of my drive - being behind 14 to 9 with 25 minutes left in the game isn't a terrible spot. Just a philosophical matter, I suppose. Tough for BAL that Henry took it for 60+ yards.

1) His sneak was just awful. Did he ever learn that the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line?
2) I was screaming at the TV when they went for 2 instead of kicking the XP. YOU DON'T NEED A 2PT CONVERSION RIGHT NOW! Lengthen the game out as long as possible!

Either way, they still only needed 1 2-point conversion. If you go for it that early, you risk turning it into a 4 possession game and not even giving yourself a chance at the end. Wait until your 3rd score to go for 2 that way you guarantee you only need 1 2-pt conversion.

I need to know why he did not go with @Cantcovermike instead of @Cantguardmike? I have never heard a receiver claim you can't "guard" me? A little research suggests it was available when he joined in 2013, although it was taken in 2018 by a high school receiver. Well his 1-15 start to his career makes that record look less than stellar.
But the rule seems to be that if you are majorly involved in 2 Super Bowl wins in this era, you will at least be on the cusp of the HOF.

Well his 1-15 start to his career makes that record look less than stellar.
But the rule seems to be that if you are majorly involved in 2 Super Bowl wins in this era, you will at least be on the cusp of the HOF.

I wonder if for money reasons, the NFL would prefer a Kansas City vs Green Bay Super Bowl? Stram, Dawson, Garrett, Taylor, Culp, Robinson vs. Lombardi, Starr, Gregg, Taylor, Adderley etc.
Have already seen that game- it was not competitive. Chiefs were much bigger than GB in both lines but Packers had these really big, really athletic linebackers and a wonderful defensive backfield. Pack also had this incredible QB who kept throwing passes to this old man who had been out drinking the night before.

Yup. Eli will unfortunately get in as well.
Jackson actually completed 31 of his 59 passing attempts, which still isn't very good
That was a typo I didn't catch. Thanks Randy LOL
The Ravens offensively are a young team. They'll be sticking around in a division where two of the four teams are fighting for relevancy and over how is going to finish last (LOL). Still the cockeyed optimist when it comes to the Browns (have talent, can they put it together?), and even the Bengals.... get key players healthy on the offensive side, have an A+ draft, and, IMO, you'll get a better view of whether Taylor is the guy to lead this team forward or not.
Big Ben will be healthy, says he will be better then ever. We'll see. It will definitely be a step up from the Steeler team I grew to know and love in '19 (LOL).
So, Jackson is basically Andy Dalton at this point.
I look at it this way ..... in his first two years in the league he TIED Andy Dalton (LOL)

It was a Jets game. No banter, no jawbowning. And NO play-by-play.

As a non-Panthers fan who lives in NC he goes down as one of my favorite guys (probably second to Smitty) to play for the local team. I heard a story this season about Coach Rivera having to stop by the facility on Christmas day one year to grab something and he found Luke in the video room watching tape. Who could have seen it coming?
As for Tannehill, I think you'll see more teams sign backup QB's like Tannehill. QB's who used to be good but, for whatever reason, have declined and aren't quite starting QB's. Teams would be more willing to spend close to 10 mil on a backup QB on 1-2 year deals.

Reid has been riding coat tails of talented teams his entire career. He’s an awful in-game coach and now he’s getting another shot with a rare talent at QB. I mean, they’re still going to win this game but small things like not expecting a fake punt and just letting your defense on the field and kicks he ball is why he’s such a terrible coach.

Yeah the other side of that coin is his teams are almost always relevant and have been for like 20 seasons. He has had some pretty egregious time management issues before for sure, but I still think he’s a top 5 coach in the league. I like this KC team a lot and I’m rooting for him.

Andy Reid is a bad coach is some kind of hot take. He's now made 7 conference championship games and 2 Super Bowls. He would have made it last year too but for a terrible offsides on 4th down on Dee Ford. He made the Chiefs into an explosive offense with Alex Smith. He's not perfect, and his biggest flaw is clock management, but he's one of the best offensive coaches of all time.
This team is talented like a Belichick team. Mahomes is obviously incredible, but there's no skill position first round picks besides Watkins (who has been a disappointment), but he finds the skills he's looking for and designs an offense around them.

I get it. I know how successful his teams have been and I know it's considered a 'hot take' by saying he's terrible, but look around the league in terms of NFL head coaches. If I had to pick someone to start my team/franchise, he's definitely not in my Top 10.
As for Smith, he had arguably his best year his last year with the 49ers before going to KC.

I was a freshman. The Reds being dominated by the Orioles (Robinson) in the World Series kinda overshadowed that Super Bowl memory for me (LOL).
One of the things that impressed me with Lamar Jackson's blazing speed was that it enabled him to beat the opposition to the outside edge (either side). It was like a race to see who was going to get there first. Because once Jackson turned that outside corner - look out.
IMO, Mahomes may be #2 after watching his TD run yesterday. A thing of beauty. To not only have that kind of speed, but the quick "mind-set" that enables you to adjust (agility) with moves that are so smooth it almost look like you're toying with the opposition (lol).
These types of QBs have really forced some changes, re-thinking, on the role of the LBer in the NFL.

There have been a few incidents since NE signed him that would definitely be a red light for NFL teams.
However, if he were to get counseling and his name were cleared from the sexual assault case, I think there would be some teams that would be very interested in signing him. But if they did and he started with the shenanigans again, he would probably get cut.

Brown is a suspect in a battery investigation involving a moving truck worker. His trainer has been taken into custody and charged with battery already, and the police are looking to speak with Brown to gather more information. That's been difficult. Public information officer Christian Lata told reporters that attempts to contact Brown have been unsuccessful because Brown has "locked himself in his house." Eli is soooooo overated it's not even funny. His career stats are incredibly average but we want to put him in because he beat the 18-0 Patriots. His team scored 17 points in that game too. 17! And he needed a miraculous catch by a receiver to boot. He is simply in the HOF because of that. That's it. If Tyree doesn't make that catch, we're not debating whether he's deserving. But because he won 2 Super Bowls, he's a HOFer.
I just believe the NFL is putting too much emphasis on winning a Super Bowl for whether you're worthy or not. His career stats, no matter which one you choose, it screams someone like Joe Flacco.

Eli is soooooo overated it's not even funny.
He's not overrated just because of that. He's overrated because of that and he played for the Giants and his last name is Manning. And it's the writers that vote on the HOFers. Which means he'll probably get in for sure.

Most...99%...of all Quarterbacks wilt under the pressure of the New York media. Eli never blinked an eye. He won Two Super Bowls. Not One. He's a shoo-in, easy 1st Time Hall-of-Fame inductee.

Joe Flacco was never going to win twice.
I do think the hype on Eli is putting way too much emphasis on wins/losses for a QB. QBs don't control wins/losses like pitchers do in baseball and that stat is even controversial there. To me he's a no for the HoF and it's not even particularly close...but he will get in

Two very special players.
What a strange coincidence that he and Eli were exactly .500.
Plunkett was special, but not HOF special. Eli would also be a no for me, but I suspect he will make it.

I would disagree. Being honest and up front in all dealings is, in the long run, far more effective than being secretive and deceptive.

On two different occasions Eli went into Lambeau in the post season and beat two good Packer teams in freezing temperatures. Beat two different HOF QBs and then went on to win the SB both times.

3rd and 15 and and letting Hill get free was turning point. Just too many weapons on this KC team. Hard to contain them all game.
Congrats to Andy Reid. Well deserved after everything he's been through.

KC (Reid) simply wore the 49ers defense out (75 plays). The 49ers ran out of steam in the 4th.

So a Kyle Shannahan unit melted down in the 4th quarter of another Super Bowl? The D was gassed because even though the 49ers were up late, Shannahan refused to run the football to grind the clock and shorten the game for his defense?
(Checks box score - Mostert and Coleman combined for 86 yards on 17 carries, or just over 5 yards per carry last night.)
Sounds eerily similar to SB LI.

not partisan political.....but I saw he was asked before the game who would win, and he basically said he had an opinion but would not say....assume to not make any voters mad. I was thinking....just say Kansas City....you have a chance in Missouri and zero chance at winning California. Like I said, not being partisan...I would give Obama the same advice if he was choosing between WV and Iowa....just pick Iowa, because WV is not voting for him.

I’m kinda surprised Andy Reid didn’t retire after the game. He’s been coaching forever and finally won a ring and likely locked up a trip to Canton in the process. Plus a likely head coach in waiting as OC ready to take over.

IF Brady does decide to go to Vegas, the rotation has the Patriots and Raiders playing in Foxboro this season.
That would be a pretty sweet prime time game.
