I placed a tape recorder with the handheld microphone by the television to record the Super Bowl pictured above (Kiick scored the winning touchdown in the 14-7 victory capping off the perfect season). I had to attend an open house for a Catholic High School I was supposed to attend. Perhaps missing the Super Bowl was enough to make me change my mind and go to the local High School instead. (More likely it was because my Step-DD passed away a week later after having been in a coma the last three weeks, as he was my discipline, and I was now at the mercy of making my own stupid decisions. Didn't have the excellent self-discipline of my older siblings.)

Kiick,Csonka and Mercury Morris made quite a threesome in those early 70's Dolphin backfields. Kiick was the heavy lifter of that group was usually called upon for those tough yards needed to keep a drive alive. When I was younger I was always fascinated with how he spelled his last name. :) RIP Jim Kiick
