He did show SOME potential last August, at least enough that he should be able to be above Christian Colon in the lineup. I have no idea where they’re coming from how they’re using him now.

It was strange. Both hit lefties better, but I would have thought that replacing Ervin vs the RH pitcher with the better fielding and LH hitter Akiyama was automatic.

With Winker really scuffling anyway, I’m not sure if he was even a better bet in this situation.

I think Bell may have learned his lesson about using his bench too early. But IMO Aquino has more potential to hit righties. And more potential to hit one out. I see more upside with AA than Ervin.

Winker is pretty good when he's locked in but he's been a slow starter each of the last three seasons. Not really worried about him, especially since he's not playing much in the field.

I see that. He’s a gifted OBP man, Winker. But if you can’t field, run or hit lefties, AND a slow starter, kind of narrows the positive impact. Especially in a short season.

Time for Jesse to get going, especially with Votto and possibly Moose out among LHH.

Yes, Kearns was an excellent fielding RF and was not a platoon player.

They were really nothing alike.

Not sure its all Bell. The Reds went out and got two starting OF in the winter and by signing Moose ensured that Senzel will stay an OF as well. Those moves essentially pushed Aquino to the side. Bell didn't make those moves. If not for the DH all of a sudden, Winker and Ervin wouldn't really have a role either.
