Put Suarez in a 1-2 count on a pitch 4 inches above the strike zone and you force him to swing at a 1-2 pitch low out of the strike zone to protect the plate. He's going to make an out 9 out of 10 times. Call the pitch correctly a ball and it's now a 2-1 count and he can now let that low one go and be selective to wait for a pitch in the zone and he's a different hitter.

Doesn't MLB have performance reviews for the Umps? The players have to perform well to keep their jobs. The rest of us in the real world have to perform in our jobs or face consequences. I don't understand why the league doesn't hold umpires more accountable. Mistakes here are one thing. We all make them. But being a consistently poor umpire should result in someone being put on a performnace improvement plan or show them the door and give someone else a chance.

I regret it already. Bad move to pull your hottest hitter in a fairly close game with a bullpen you can't completely trust. Runner on 2nd or 3rd and no outs, maybe you put Jankowski in with the top of the lineup coming up. But we had 1 out with Casali and Colon hitting and a runner only on 1st.

It’s really not a tough call. Neither is JVM for Davidson. If those moves are made in a close game they shouldn’t happen before the 8th inning. You don’t remove your two hottest bats THAT early to bring in two guys who can’t hit their weight. Bell obviously learns nothing from his nightly mistakes.
