I guess Davidson can hit lefties.

The amazing thing is, so many posters kept asking for his release when he got out 5or 6 times early in the season.

Yet they never learn about small sample sizes.

Winker, another example.

Get the guy more playing time.

I assume he was going to play regardless tomorrow given the LHP.

I'd play him regularly, even against RHP. None of the left-handed bats that are going to be on the bench have done anything this year.

Ok, let’s make fun of schildt for a change instead of bell.

So obvious Davidson would hit if a lefty came in.

How did he not bring in a righty to either face van meter or neautralize Davidson?

Awful managing!

Honestly, I would.

He only threw 22 pitches last night, so that isn't an issue.

Give him the ball and tell him to do his job.

If he fails again, at least you know it wasn't just the long layoff. If he succeeds, perhaps it boosts his confidence and he gets back on track.

There's only really one sports channel that shows baseball in the UK and it's almost always east coast teams, in fact it's usually Red Sox or Yankees home games. If you are mad enough to support a mid-market midwest team with a losing record in the UK you're on MLB TV with a VPN!! Considering this season is in the crapper, I’d like to see just how low VanMeter’s average can go. Ideally, .100 would henceforth be known as “The VanMeter Line.” The Mendoza line will no longer be the gold standard for bad hitting.

Chris Davis will finish the season with the worst qualified batting average in Major League Baseball history.

To be considered a qualified hitter, a batter must reach 502 plate appearances in a given season.

His 1,696 career strikeouts are far more than this 1,099 career hits.

Davis has 16 homers in 522 plate appearances. Unfortunately, Davis has contributed next to nothing elsewhere, leading to a miserable .168/.243/.296 batting line.

The next lowest qualified batting average in MLB history is .179, posted by Rob Deer in 1991 and Dan Uggla in 2013.

With the shortened season, no player will have 502 qualified plate appearances, so VanMeter will be a statisical anomaly.

I still remember the PH Grand Slam Hal King hit against the Dodgers that changed the season around and vaulted the BRM onward towards the playoffs.

This is a Hal King moment against the current version of the Dodgers.

I just posted the Hal King comparison in a thread on the main forum. I thought I might be the first. Guess not.

Yeah people are missing the big picture that except for Iggy's blowup the pen has been light out for over a week now.

Speaking of Iggy, did he take a pitch out of his arsenal tonight? I seemed to recall he couldn't throw a curveball for a strike last night, and I'm not sure he threw it at all tonight.

Other than Sims and Garrett for one batter, today was the first day they were able to pitch with a little pressure. Garbage innings by Lorenzen and Reed don't count.

The number of plate appearances to qualify for a batting title this year will be 502 x 60/162=186.

Otherwise, there can be no batting title.
