Closer Hader is a lefty, Bell is leaving his RHHs n the game just in case.

Good point, I am glad to see Bell looking beyond the current inning so that we don't end up with Janowski facing Hader in the 9th

He's .294 vs lefties this year. Votto's .150. If Bell's going to use analytics, he should probably be consistent.

He's using a little larger sample size than this season to date.

Kc, the problem is the reds do not learn from their cadre of mistakes. no other small market team in MLB invests as much money as the reds in veteran players who are past their prime. or at the very least, at the very end of their prime when you know most of the contract will be outdated and heavily in favor of the player.

I mean, this is ridiculous. No other team wastes as much money on veteran players than the reds?

To put this in perspective: when they signed Moose it was the biggest free agent signing in Reds history. $64 million. Teams like the Red Sox, Yankees, Dbacks, Angels, Dodgers, Mariners, etc regularly give gigantic contracts to aging veterans.

You seem to be tripping, sir.

I thought the same thing. Nice having the big guy around :beerme:

Not a fan of the intentional walk here. Yelich isn't the Yelich of last year.

So Yelich will steal on the first off speed pitch to eliminate the DP

reading can be difficult. you left out some very key words there, but nice try. "small market" was somehow omitted by you (otherwise you would have realized bringing up markets such as new york, LA and boston would not apply). also, "past their prime" was amazingly overlooked as well.

Good play by Ervin, but a victim of the line of his strong throw being in line with the baserunner. Maybe a surgical throw just 4' to the outside of 3B would have got the DP! But I doubt Geno's tagging skills would have been up to it.

If it results in runs, then I stand by what I said.

If they get a double play out of this, then I will admit I was wrong.

Instead of Bauer giving the intentional walk, it seems like it would be better to have the reliever give the IBB, so that he only has to face 2 batters minimum instead of 3. I guess it doesn't matter though , I am sure they will live and die with Antone. (Not criticizing that)

I did miss “small market” however I am not going to agree with your statement. The reds almost never spend on free agency. They pick up bullpen arms and bench players on free agency usually. This is pretty much the first time in my life I can remember them signing any players of note in FA. And Castellanos is 28 years old. Not past his prime. Moustakas is 31. In his prime.

missing "small market" means you missed my entire argument. i'm not comparing the reds' front office against the likes of the yankees, dodgers, angels and red sox. brian cashman can make 3 bad signings. but if he makes one really good one he comes out gold in the end. the reds do not have that kind of luxury. they need to operate more like the indians do.

or perhaps you believe dick williams and the front office are doing a fine job?

Yeah, the guy that started the “Dick Williams Needs to Resign” thread thinks he’s doing a bang up job. No matter what market the reds belong to they do not spend on veterans past their prime. And if they do it’s very small contracts.

oh well, there's always the bengals. oh wait.

Of the 5 Reds baserunners who didn't circle the bases on HRs, 3 of them were eliminated on DPs. Only 4 Reds batters went to the plate even 4 times. Situational hitting is not very good.

I'm never quite sure what "not accepting" it actually means. Stop watching the games? stop following any news about the team?

If that's it, at what point do you start watching the games again? How do you even know what's going on with the team?

Criticize, complain, and call for changes. Starting from the top up. Call out the incompetence. Don't suffer fools gladly. Stop making excuses for ineptitude. Stop watching games ? Not an option- they're my team.
