That will be my only comment on uniforms this season, if not ever.

I would have thought they would have worn the red alternate jerseys, which can be worn both home and away.

Personally, I don't like the new red alternate jerseys with script "Reds" at all. They look too much like batting practice or Spring Training jerseys, IMO. I liked the previous red alternates from last year, which were red/white negatives of the home jerseys.

They've shown the replay 3 times and I still don't understand what happened there.

He gave himself a very wide base by stretching his left foot toward second base. But when you stretch before the throw, you limit your mobility. When the throw wasn't exactly where he expected it, he couldn't adjust.

Whenever possible, stretch to the ball.

He may be adamant about it, but if he doesn't turn it back on offensively, he's not going to opt out under any circumstances.

Votto stretches too soon (does that fairly often)

My biggest problem with the play was he lapsed on knowing where his 2nd baseman was. When he plays that far off he has to know where his 2nd baseman is....he took a step and a half after a ball he had no chance at and being not very athletic in his older age struggled to get to bag.

So far this year Votto is the worst defensive first baseman I can remember that plays every day. Heís been very bad. He would agree 100%.

With this lefty and the three batter rule, I’d have found a way to hit Aquino that inning.

Garcia got ahead 3-1 and seemed over anxious. Barnhart against the lefty was a give up.

Manager is too patient LOL.

The reality is he deserves to be in the lineup as DH and sometimes 1b based on offensive merit.

Also, he has an unmoveable contract, and we are all stuck watching the diminishing returns on him.

What you constantly post is not inciteful. Itís obvious, basic, observation. Itís not news to anyone, and doesnít need to be reported every single time he does something negative.

There is no guarantee that any infielder will throw the ball perfectly into the first baseman's glove. I taught my son how to catch at age 4 by throwing the ball directly into his mitt. That should not have to happen at the major league level. We can just agree to disagree. E3

I checked the splits and Goodwin had one elite year hitting LHP in 2017. Otherwise, it's not great, especially the past two years.

Davidson has run into some really tough luck the past week or two. He was hitting it hard, just right at defenders.

As I said in several posts, people have been unrealistic about this road trip.

Most teams struggle to win on the road and seldom dominate. Four straight in Pitt was always unlikely.

If Reds go over .500 on this trip, they will be in position to do business at home. 6-4 seems a fair goal.

How is that considered "doing his job"?

At least with Garcia you know he's got more range and appears to be a much better defensive SS overall than Galvis right now. If Galvis' bat isn't going to make up for his average defense, it's not worth it for him to be in the game over Garcia.

How is that considered "doing his job"?

Galvis graded as one of the 5-10 best SS defensively the last few years.

How?? They don’t win at home either!

I donít think he will ever hit one.
Jeezus, I didn't realize he hadn't hit any. And playing half his games in GABP, no less.

This year the numbers aren't as favorable to him.

He's 31 and isn't as good defensively as he was even 2 years ago.

Last I checked Galvis had the 4th highest OPS on the team. Garcia barely has a 700 OPS in the minors. Galvis isn’t great but replacing him with a kid who head never played above A ball was not a good idea. Now if they had thrown in the towel and traded some guys I wouldn’t have an issue with it.

comparing winker and davidson is some massive mental gymnastics on your part.

I mean, if you lack reading comprehension it is.

The point is about 20 appearances meaning nothing, and if Winker in this season can slump this long, anyone can.

You use the depth and track record of the player. Thatís the point.

Fair point.

But they should win more at home and were over .500 there last season.

Bad News: I think it’s safe to assume this team isn’t that good.

Good News: Because of the expanded playoffs, they don’t have to be good to make the playoffs.

So was Galvis available to PH in bottom of the last for 3 guys hitting worse than him?

In the last two weeks, Galvis is hitting .138 with a .460 OPS.

Cards trailing Cubs so maybe Reds will pick up 1/2 game on them.

Brewers won. No comment.

I would have pinch hit a blindfolded Michael Lorenzen for Tucker Barnhart tonight, but that's just me.

While some hammer Joey for the missed ball, I look at what happened after that. Bauer was allowing hits and fielding other than Votto was poor. Joey gets the blame because of what he gets paid, which apparently aggravates some people. It's not my money. I don't care what he makes. I do mind the ignoring of Aquino, the love fest with Davidson and others, and the lack of putting Barnhardt in a position where he will help. The Pirates broadcasting team are now just wanting to beat the Reds and move above them.

Galvis has an MLB track record. He was batting 7-8 and thatís where Garcia is playing. Not like he is Fernando Tatis.

No chance Bauer signs up to play with these guys again next year. Hope they hit the lottery with the pick they get.

Sure, but that track record doesn't exactly jump off the page.

He's a career .677 OPS/82 OPS+ guy.

Edit: The Reds were floundering and desperately needed a spark. Might as well try something different. That's why I feel the same way about bringing up Stephenson now.

I probably would have gone Galvis, especially with his new approach against righties... but he wasnít exactly a sure bet either.

Ya itís the sane shoddy analysis that had many here benching Winker after a handful of genes to start the year.

20 at bats is nothing analysis for a guy with a track record, and itís tiring seeing the same stuff every time a move doesnít work out despite having VERY obvious logic to it.

Davidson has a track record? :)

Patrick Bateman

He has a career .830 ops against lefties, which ranks 4th on the team, and maybe 5th if you include Aquino on 55 at bat sample where he would be 20 points higher.

Davidson was as good a choice as anyone available, in that context.
