Senzel is a better hitter than Goodwin with more potential, but I wouldn’t sell Goodwin short. He has pretty good career numbers.

He’s probably a fourth OFer with this team, but give him a little time. Even with the Angels this year he had nearly an .800 OPS and a 114 OPS+.

Yes, Senzel is better than Goodwin, certainly in potential. But Goodwin has played 345 MLB games and you’re judging him by a few handpicked plays over 8 games, some partial.

I admired two very good catches Goodwin made in CF so far, but I wouldn’t argue he’s Willie Mays.

You might be forgetting that Senzel, just like 90% of the team, was not hitting when he went out. He has been better in CF than most expected though.

As soon as the Reds traded for Goodwin, I had a feeling Bell would use that as an excuse to not play Aquino.

The four walks ARE NOT insignificant with Aquino. Last year in September he was chasing, and pitchers didn’t need to get near his wheelhouse. If he displays an eye and pitchers need to locate closer to the plate, watch out.

Why do you think he has limited range? I have seen him get to several balls that i doubt any other OF'er on the roster would have been able to track down. Maybe I am misunderstanding the reference to range.

There are 17 games left in the season. The Reds should be fine with Shogo playing CF for the next two weeks. In 119 innings so far, the stats say he’s been a bit above average in CF. Whatever benefit Goodwin brings defensively over Shogo in CF, Aquino provides greater benefit offensively over Goodwin, imo.

right, we should continue to do exactly what we have been doing since it has resulted in holding down the 12th spot in the NL. We don’t have access to the Reds’ internal scouting reports.

But at this point I’m convinced Reds do not feel he will help them playing regularly - on the merits as they see them.

It’s no longer about minor league options available (he’s with the team). It’s no longer about Ervin or Jankowski or anyone else getting a preference. They just don’t think he will help - especially against RHP.

So IMO it’s time to leave it alone. They’ve made their call. He’ll probably play againt lefties. If they thought AA could help they would play him more, they are obviously desperate to win.

Once he gets experience in facing MLB pitching he'll start to hit. The guy has not played above advanced A ball. This COVID mess denying minor league baseball has hurt players like Garcia.

I believe with the increase in K’s that number is decreasing.

But I doubt any team, whether they are good or not, does it exceptionally more than 50%.

I did a general public paid tour of Wrigley a few years ago....they take you down into the clubhouse and all around the stadium...I was shocked how small and non-luxurious the clubhouse/locker room area under Wrigley was for the Cubs. I guess they are pretty limited in what they could do in an old ballpark. It even felt a tad damp with a hint of urine in the air...

it was empty, Cubs were on a road trip....the only time I recall sitting was in the outfield bleachers so they could tell us the history around the scoreboard. I do recall the absolute perfection of the grass in the field....and the way they almost made us feel like there were snipers ready to take us out if we dared to cross the ropes and place foot on field of play...
