Yay! More Tucker and no Ty Steve!

Why would we play a young catcher with star potential when we could play Tucker Barnhart 6 out of 7 games?

This is Tucker’s second start in the last 5 days, same as Stephenson.

Btw, Tucker has a 1.116 OPS in September.

I was being hyperbolic, but the point remains. Tucker should not be getting as many status at Stephenson.

Presumably, he hasn't played in a number of days. He didn't play against the Cards.

It's a double header, so I doubt any catcher plays both games.

He’s played in every game. I assume it’s just a rest game and to get Senzel in the field for one game. If Winker was healthy I think AA would be out if the lineup. Not that I agree with that, just think it would have happened that way.

Trevor Bauer is making his 5th start this year on the day of a doubleheader. The last Reds pitchers to do that were Clay Kirby and Pat Darcy, who each started 5 games on the day of a doubleheader in 1975.

If I were guessing, and it’s just a guess, Reds will score some runs in this game. Lineup is well balanced, not too many LHH to hit into shift. Hoping Senzel is truly ready to play his best. Lineup is at least 7 deep.

27 games missed for Senzel. From a COVID standpoint I’d be curious to hear the story if he was willing to tell it.

I mean he seemed ok the day he got ripped off the field. Was it caught early and he just went downhill? Or was he asymptomatic and couldn’t get negative tests?

Ponce got off too easy those first three innings. That's been one of the problems with the REDS' hitters that they tried to fix with Shojo and Senzel and other additons this off-season...increase the pitch count. Make them work for it.

I like our chances with both Senzel and Shojo in the lineup every day (as long as there is a DH for Winker).

It's like Aquino wasn't even paying attention last inning.

If I was Manager, I would have a serious talk with him right now about paying attention to the flow of the game and to focus on the pitcher every single pitch while he's in the dugout. Aquino is definitely missing something upstairs, which explains why he doesn't get playing time.

Even with a different pitcher, got to show some patience.

Looking at a comparable like DeGrom's contract, and taking his relative youth into account plus the whole one year status (will be interesting to see if he sticks with this), $25 to 30 sounds about right. Probably closer to 30.

We're looking at least at a 10 mil upgrade to payroll.
