For me it’s an aggregate thing you look at the team level over a long period of time to gauge true talent level.

When I posted that, I left it up to interpretation. Mine was "Votto could have got to that" but I had no idea if the shift was on so I just left it open.

If anything, I'm starting to believe less and less that stats like BABIP and xBA are indicators of luck and more indicative of defensive ability for both your team and opponents.
