Posted this elsewhere...I don't necessarily feel the same elation as I did getting to the playoffs in 2010 and 2012, but damn do I feel so happy for some of the longtime Reds who have played through some crap years - Suarez, Barnhart, Lorenzen, Disco, Garrett. And of course, Votto for getting at least one more chance in the playoffs.

You may not be excited but I guarantee the teams at the top of the NL bracket are hoping the other teams in the NL bracket end up with the Reds. That alone is exciting to me.

Don't get me wrong, of course I'm thrilled. I'm sure it's the short and goofy season and expanded playoffs that makes the feeling not quite the same, but I'm stoked.

This team and the run that it took to get them into the playoffs reminds me so much of 2007 where The Rockies made it to The World Series.

Big difference here is that The Reds won’t be running Josh Fogg and a bunch of other very hittable guys out to the mound in the playoffs. They’ve got the pitching to beat literally anybody.

Man I’m excited.

The last 2 weeks have been amazing to basically be dead and go on an 11-3 run to make the playoffs

I just ran around my neighborhood 7 times.

Wow. Missed this.

You sir, are in better shape than I.

Yeah, I mean over a 162 game season I think this team would be right in the hunt for a “real” playoff spot.

And of course, Votto for getting at least one more chance in the playoffs.I have to say that I feel the same elation as I felt during the time period that you mention for three reasons:

This team was left for dead by many 18 days or so ago.

This team has a very strong chance of ending the futility of not advancing in the playoffs.

I submitted my final Capstone project required for my Bachelor's Degree tonight. It's been quite a night!

Maybe not. By “ran,” I actually meant walked outside. And although I wrote “around my neighborhood 7 times” I actually meant I thought about how much I missed the days I actually could.

Basically interchangeable

I'll get it right this time.

Yes, over 2 hours have passed since FCB's last appearance (post) this thread.

I did a capstone project in grad school. Finishing it was a happy moment.

This team was 19-25 after September 10th. If you would have told me that night this was going to clinch a playoff spot 15 days later I would have thought you were crazy

We can point to heroes all round, but I'll say it.

Michael Lorenzen saved this season.

His last 3 outings were heroic. Can't be overstated.

Congrats on submitting the project! :beerme:

I didn't mean to make this a comparison of my excitement levels in different playoff years. I'm enjoying the hell out of this and can't wait for next week (and hopefully more). My main point was how happy I am for the longtime Reds to get to experience this in a Cincinnati uniform.

Congrats!

I still remember walking out of the Engineering Center at Wright State that last time and thinking “Holy crap, I have a college degree now. It’s finally over. I did it. I’m an Electrical Engineer”. It was a surreal feeling after years and years (I transferred and was also late picking a major so I most definitely did not finish in 4 years) of hard work and all the times where it felt like it would never end.

What’s your degree in?

Joey Votto re-affirms his status as my favorite baseball player.

The guy is a process-addict who almost always gets his results where they need to be. And now, he adds another type of interview to his Pro Wrestling Arsenal! We've seen the goofy comedy guy (Mountie). We've seen the "cool" laid-back heel (the donkey interview with the apple). Now, he's just added the Completely Vicious Cold-Blooded Killer ("We're a ****ing nightmare, and everybody knows it.").

EDIT TO ADD: noticeably absent is the boring bland white meat babyface promo about saying your prayers, respecting the flag, and eating your vitamins that nobody over the age of 11 actually responds to. He should totally make sure to do one of those some day. And then immediately start swearing up a storm and kneecapping the umps who displease him because he's better at their job than they are, all while sporting an all new alternate Sunday jersey: that of the rWo.

EDIT TO THE EDIT: I wouldn't really buy/wear an rWo shirt, because it's a cheesy one-off idea had at the stroke of 1am. But something tells me if you do it up right, I *would* pay good money for a vWo t-shirt.

Also shoutout to bradley and goodwin! those guys came here and were happy to play for the reds even though we weren't seeing results at the time. Bradley said he immediately got on a plane to come here after he found out about the trade because he wanted to win and thought the reds gave him a good opportunity to do so. it would have been very easy for a guy like him to say he didnt want to pitch in gabp and didnt want to uproot his life and move across country but he immediately jumped at the chance to join our bullpen.

I also ran around after the clinch for 16 minutes and burnt 200 calories. Not bad for a guy in his seventh decade!

Talk bout excited!

I’m a 51-year-old grown ass man from Virginia. Why do I care so much about these yahoos playing a kid’s game in Ohio? But dammit, I do care. HOT DAMN THE PLAYOFFS!

There should be a love button.

My Major is Cybersecurity/Information Assurance. And I can certainly relate to not finishing a degree in four years, as life often gets in the way. Between my Associate and Bachelor's degrees, it's taken me about 5 and a half years. What's more, I Just turned 53 in late July.

To all of you out there scratching and clawing every day in an effort to better yourselves, keep plugging away and don't give up,

Man the ups and the downs are so crazy right now, I love this team. Yeah I hate on Bell sometimes and some other guys but who doesn't? This team is so entertaining. I think a lot of teams are hoping not to get the Reds in the first round. You could make an argument Cinci has 3 top 10 pitchers in the whole league.

Even with tonight's loss, the Twins, as of now, still own the best home record in MLB. Which makes tonight's huge Reds win all the more impressive.
