First time this year that Castellanos hasn't started, I believe. Assuming it's just a day of rest.

So if Cardinals finish one percentage point ahead of the Reds (like they are now) while having played two less games, does that give them 2nd place or do they have to play the makeup on Monday? Still seems unfair to me that they got to wait until all their players were cleared while the Reds had to play ahead a couple times without key guys who had to sit.

David Bell said Archie Bradley had some soreness earlier this week, so he wasn't available for a couple days. He's healthy and good to go now. He may have pitched in the 9th last night if #Reds didn't score add-on runs.

The makeup games are supposed to only be played if it impacts who will make the playoffs or who is a top 4 seed. If it’s just seeding the winning % is used. There are so many scenarios I’m not sure what will happen.

Cards could very well play Monday - if the extra games could impact whether Cards, Brewers, or Phils make the playoffs.

But Cards would not play Monday simply because they are seeded higher than Reds, having a mere one percentage point lead. That’s just a seeding issue and would not affect home field.

If the Brewers won next 2 games they would be tied with the Cards and at that point most likely the games would have to played as I donít think other teams would be too far ahead to no make them be played

What the Reds need to do the *rest of the way* to get the 5th seed (both need to be true):
•Win 1 more than the Cardinals, unless STL plays DET on Monday, then they need to at least win the same number as the Cardinals.

• Win 1 more than the Marlins.

I don't think the ump really had lot to do with his release point and spin tonight. He's not real comfortable on the mound and you'll have that from time to time. You'll see him find it and lose it. That wild pitch is an indicator. Keep it close boys.

Purely semantics, but if every team is beatable, it doesnít matter what the rotation is for any team. You could have the clone of Tom Seaver pitching every game, but if every team is beatable, then thatís the first and only reason, and the same would be true if you had the 2017 Reds rotation.

It is a chicken and egg question. But here's the thing, if you look at each of the 3 pods of teams(AL/NL-east, AL/NL-central, AL/NL-west) you see a very noticeable grouping in the team stats both offensively and defensively. So while the central are all over the bottom of the batting stats, they are bunched in the top of the pitching stats. The other two (regions I guess I'll call them) are top of batting stats and bottom of pitching stats. That tells me that the stats are terribly misleading. Also, teams that play the Dodgers and Padres only play them up to 33 percent of their games leaving 67 percent playing the other which means if their pitching is much better than than the stats say, while they shouldn't be at the top of the stats, they also shouldn't be bunched at the bottom.

My point isn't that the Dodgers aren't that good, my point is that by playing a schedule in a bubble that doesn't have overlap, you can't really use those stats to make much of a point other than they are better than the other 9 teams their bubble. If the stats showed more diversity within each bubble I might think differently.
