That's what ST is for. But, they do have a "fundamental" issue that's bigger than tweaks in their swing. They need to change their mindset and approach and it can only come from the staff. They won't do it individually as was proven during the 2020 season where the problem existed before that season began. Something against "routine as normal" has to change or it will just be more of the same.

But, like I said, brass addressed this with Shogo. An outfield of Shogo, Winker and Senzel is an excellent OBP group. Add Votto and Castellanos and we are really only talking about Suarez, SS, C and Moustakas, who doesn't fall into either category, leaning more towards a good OBP player, so it's just Suarez, who needs to figure it out himself and SS/C.

Guess it should be OK. I think I read to many woe-is-me posts following the 3-game sample size of the playoffs.

I disagree. Your practice habits are what you carry with you in games. You practice the way you play and you play the way you practice. Keep the same approach whether it’s a spring training game or the World Series. Work the count and get hittable pitches.

I think it happened more back then. Especially in the 70s-90s then now unless you’re the evil empires of NYY and the Dodgers. The Reds were horrible at it even during the winning years of 2012-13. We were all begging for them to do something after Ludwick went down in 2013.

I brought those teams up at the top of my head because I remember how deep they were on the bench. Those Reds teams could hit. Loved those teams.

Good teams have good bench players. Maybe not down to the last guy, but 2 or 3 semi-regular types who can play for an extended period competently. There is always a drop-off from the starter, but on a good team, the sub doesn't have to make that position a wasteland. This team could do that by using Senzel as a 450 PA bench player who starts at 4 or 5 positions each week, but he's also the best choice in CF, but Shogo could handle that with better defenders in the corners. Not sure a Winker, Shogo, Castellanos OF works. Of course, I'm not sure it works with Senzel in CF either.
