But Farmer instead of Blandino really needs to be explained. Blandy was 1-3 with a walk last night. He has half the number of ab's as Farmer and we're going with Farmer hitting .152 and getting on base .260?

Reds view Farmer as their primary backup infielder. All I’m saying is it must be based largely on defense, including shortstop ability.

He’s hit lefties in his career, but that’s not how he’s used.

Once Moose comes back you have more options, although I think Votto will be fine. If not, and if you can get Bell to help himself out by not starting Naquin 2-3 times a week, you could do something like this:

I’d also consider resting Votto more often and playing one of the catchers at first to get Stephenson’s bat in the lineup more often. That would help a lot at the moment too, since you still have Farmer available for emergency catcher situations.

i see the roster. it's not gonna get better my friend. that 6-1 start was a mirage. worst reds' bullpen i've ever seen. worst reds' defense. and while the offense and starting pitching is good overall, it's not good enough to make up for that. (and frankly, the offense and starting pitching isn't as good as some of us think imo).
