Two bits of news:
1. Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay. Will be curious if this impacts the draft if the Pack decides to cash in.
2. Saints looking to move into the top 10 and not for a QB.

I just dont want to mess up the Bengals here- the good news is most of the teams ahead of us wont want to give up the pick-
The Niners worry me as they would take Rodgers. Then the Packers can mess it up for us drafting at that spot.

The Niners would have nothing to give up since they sold out to move up to 3. Denver and Vegas can give up future picks, the Niners next first round pick belongs to the Dolphins.

As funny as that seems, I’ve always wondered if a team that had a chance to pick 2 high-tier QB prospects should do so, in a moneyball sort of way.
Hitting on a good QB could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars. If 1a isn’t cutting it, give 1b a shot in a year.

I'd love to see the Bengals focus on the offensive line with this pick, but I'm unsure about tackle. The guards and center all struggled last year, to some degree or another. (And I like Sam Cosmi as a target in either the 3rd or 4th round as a tackle.) Might be able to deal down with Cleveland or Jacksonville?

Understatement of the year? The Bengals entered the offseason with question marks at each position on the offensive line. So far, they kind of patched one with Reiff and are clearly banking on Jonah Williams becoming durable overnight. Still leaves three big question marks in the middle though.

Was it reach? Sure. But it wasn't crazy. He's a hometown kid as well.
He also has a bad back and just had surgery on it. He’ll be lucky if he can dress himself in 10 years, much less be dressed for game day in the NFL. This lazy kid with short arms would have been a reach in the 4th round even if he was healthy. With a potentially degenerative back injury that he might never fully recover from? Apparently that bumps him up to a 2nd rounder on Zach’s board.
Edit to add: His back surgery was to repair a herniated disc. Here’s what a quick search had to say about that. A herniated disc can begin degeneration processes.
“These changes are more likely to occur in people who smoke cigarettes and those who do heavy physical work (such as repeated heavy lifting). People who are obese are also more likely to have symptoms of degenerative disc disease.
A sudden (acute) injury leading to a herniated disc (such as a fall) may also begin the degeneration process.”
On a Bengals message board, another poster said this:
“DM from a scout about the Carman pick: Buddy if you know what we know, I don’t think they did their homework."

The most frustrating part about this is the fact that the whole argument for taking Chase over Sewell is that the Bengals could land an OT capable of starting on day one at #38 and it actually came to fruition and instead of just taking the best OL available they traded down to stockpile picks (in a shallow draft), had the rug pulled out from underneath them and ended up reaching for a project.

That's strange to me, I guess.
I thought the reason why they let Alexander go was because his coaching methods were outdated and his old school demeanor rubbed a lot of players the wrong way.
Then they brought in Pollack who was the opposite of that and had great results.
Then they let him go and brought in Zac Attack's good bud Jim Turner, who was finally let go because his coaching methods were outdated and his old school demeanor rubbed a lot of players the wrong way.
And then they brought Pollack back, whom they never should have let go in the first place.
Now Alexander is still in the mix, with Big Willie, influencing who the Bengals draft on offensive line?
Jeez why not just hire scouts to do that?

Please read the article on SI.com under All Bengals Insider where Alexander says that whenever he talks to the Bengals he always goes to the top man to talk. Basically he said I speak with Mike directly. He said that he spoke with him personally about Carmen and that Brown already liked him. Maybe Pollack already did too. Who knows. At least they drafted a couple of more good looking OL later. The injury concerns do worry me. They need these guys to develop so Jordan and X man don’t see the field much.
I was surprised they did not go after more UFA for LB and maybe another WR. CB. There were some decent OL help too.

Pollack did say, however, that he's had more interaction with Carman than most lineman over the years. Everything I've read says the Bengals plan to start him at guard. Tobin talked to Willie and asked him about starting at RG, tackle potentially. Willie gave Carman a good review. They also spoke with Dabo. So, it's pretty clear Carman was their guy for a while.

Good info. I just don’t trust Alexander any.
I don’t understand why it’s so hard to hire Willie as a scout for just OL or PT coach. He wants to help.
I assume he is making more money with more flexibility working for himself.
All I can add is that I am ecstatic at what the Browns did in the draft and in the market. Wow!

Browns should be the favorite in the AFC North. If Baker is 90% what he was the second half of the season, they could win 12 or 13 games.

Most pundits still have the Ravens as the favorite
The Browns will get the benefit of the 3rd place schedule (Pats/Texans and TBD NFC 3rd place team) as opposed to the Ravens (Dolphins/Colts and TBD NFC 2nd place team)
It all rest on Mayfield and if the Browns off season hype machine can translate on the retooled defense

Can't imagine someone silly enough to try to make an argument for anyone else.
All I can say gentlemen was that there was all types of hype a couple years ago ... "The Browns are going to the Super Bowl!" ... when they signed OBJr in the off-season.
Being a Reds and Browns fan for almost 60 years has "aged" my temperment to the point of moderation. I understand the reality of rooting for Ohia teams.
Who wants to go play some golf! lol
