Looks like Duke tried to hold back their ace for Tennessee. Not working out so far as they trail Liberty 5-1 in the 3rd.

Now 8-1 Liberty. And their pitcher has an ERA of 2.00 and has thrown about 30 pitches through three innings. Uphill climb for the Blue Devils.

Norfolk State is giving my new favorite team, the East Carolina Pirates, one helluva battle. 4-3 Norfolk State headed to bottom 6.

Liberty is going to beat Duke barring a miracle. 11-2 in the 8th. A very good opening round game between UVA and South Carolina. 3-3 in the 6th in Old Dominion's regional (hosted by South Carolina).

It was almost a great day for mid and low majors, but Fairfield blew a two-run ninth inning lead to Arizona State, Indiana State lost a four-run eighth inning lead to Georgia Tech, and Wright State coughed up the three-run ninth inning lead to Tennessee.

South Alabama is up 14-1 on Florida. Pretty rough, short tournamenet for the Gators.

Now 19-1 and adding insult to injury they're in a rain delay.

There's one of my mid majors getting it done. Dallas Baptist erased a five-run Oregon State lead punctuated by a 7th-inning grand slam that put the Patriots up 6-5. Second super regional appearance in school history.

I like Dallas Baptist in that baseball is the only sport that they even attempt to compete. I appreciate that they found a niche.

Hated to see Campbell go down at Mississippi State today. They got the leadoff double down 1 in the 9th, but the heart of their order couldn't get it done.

Oregon just balked in the go ahead run against LSU in the 8th. Their pitcher just kind of choked and wanted no part of throwing home. Looks like LSU will survive.

They're letting this game go on in a downpour. I'm waiting for a pitcher to pull a Lucas Sims and keep throwing out balls until he gets a dry one. This is no way to determine who goes to the Supers.

The ODU pitcher got the first 16 batters he faced and was lifted after a 1 out double in the 6th. I'm going to have to check out this downpour situation as I've just been following online.

Man, it's so true that time flies as you get older. I was reading about Paul Mainieri's retirement from LSU and was shocked to see he'd been there 15 years. I can't believe Skip Bertman has been gone that long! And it's even longer as Laval was there for 5 years between Bertman and Mainieri. Just unbelievable that it's been 20 years since Bertman retired.
