Seeing him and Farmer hitting back-to-back (and in front of the pitcher) makes me nervous, but Farmer did get 3 hits yesterday, so hopefully at least one can provide some production and be on base when the lineup turns over.

Shogo Akiyama – He’s been a bench player since returning from the injured list, losing a potential starting spot in center field to Tyler Naquin. Bell said Akiyama understood the situation and handled it well, but it's not an easy adjustment. He's hitless in his first eight at-bats.

“We have a long way to go and Shogo is going to be a big part of the team,” Bell said. “He's going to get a lot of playing time. But right now, it's not about Shogo; it's more about the guys that are playing.”

I was for sitting Suarez for a few games 10 days or so ago so he could work on the side. I am for finding a Hoffman replacement. Got the best they are going to get from him first 2-3 starts. It's all downhill from now on with him. His track record backs that up.
But yes it is a marathon not a sprint. The big 162 will have hot streaks. and deep slumps.

Michael Lorenzen (shoulder) has been cleared to start a throwing program.
Lorenzen will head to Arizona to begin the program. The right-hander has been on the injured list for the entire 2021 season while recovering from a right shoulder strain, but a recent MRI revealed that things are on the mend. He should help the Reds' pitching staff at some point this summer.

With the Senzel thing, I don’t even disagree that Senzel is fragile, he obviously very much is - I just don’t get why it is, because it’s not like it’s the same thing over and over again. It genuinely seems like he has some chronic condition.


At least with Ken Griffey Jr. being injured all the time it made sense that his legs were beaten up by years of playing CF on concrete basically, and he had the one hamstring that was repeatedly injured. But Senzel doesn’t have that same issue so far as I can tell.
