Will Wade no longer allowed to make strong ass offers on behalf of LSU.
That means Georgia, LSU, Missouri, and possibly Ole Miss and Florida could have openings.
Texas A&M looks like the Auburn team three years ago that caught fire in the SEC Tournament and made a final four run.

According to Jeff Goodman the notice of allegations by the NCAA made it clear that it would be in the best interests of LSU not to continue with Will Wade.
He’s been living on borrowed time for awhile now anyways.

Such bad luck for the Flyers. Up by 13 with 10 minutes left, Star PG breaks his ankle, lose by 4. I honestly don’t even know why I watch college basketball at this point. All my teams are cursed.

Mali broke his ankle in the preseason, rolled it today.
The Flyers were cruising at the start of the second half, then they went completely stagnant around the 11-minute mark...on both sides of the ball. Losing Mali hurt, but there's no excuse for a total collapse like that.
Oh well, go Wright State lol.

They do when Cal lets them shoot. He did yesterday and they were 2/20. That was on open looks mostly too. It was WVU in 2010 bad.
Kellan Grady, Davion Mintz, and TyTy Washington are all capable shooters. Grady is in a funk, TyTy has been recovering from injury, and Mintz decision making isn’t the greatest.
I posted this in the UK thread but Tennessee gave out the blueprint on how to beat Kentucky. Have a bigger more athletic center who can frustrate Oscar (he fouled out I think for the first time this year yesterday). Cut off Wheeler from penetrating and force Kentucky to beat you from three and make shots yourself.

90% of the Big XII is in the top 75. And the one team that is not is #77.
If your point is that there are no bottom feeders then yeah

I don't think that it's clear that they're far and away the best league. An argument can be made for the SEC for sure. Regardless of who's had the best season, the top league is a winner by a narrow margin
Well, the Big XII is by far and away the best league, so the Big XII love is fair, but I don't think Baylor gets a number one seed after yesterday.

We were told back in January that "Mike White will not be the coach at UF next season" by a guy who sometimes has legit information. He didnt say what/why/how etc. just that he wouldnt be the coach. By all accounts he is a wonderful individual and well liked so we werent sure how this could occur as it didnt seem UF/Strick would hand him his walking papers only a year after giving him an extension. All the attention then turned to the Ole Miss situation after the A&M SECT loss so needless to say I was shocked when I read the news that he left for Georgia.
I like Mike but anyone who watched his teams at Florida can tell you he's not fit to run a program with any real yearly expectations. He's mid at best when it comes to X's and O's and you would frequently see one guy trying to beat his defender off the dribble with the other 4 standing in place. He's also not going to develop guys at a high level. In his 7 years at UF I cannot name 1 player he significantly improved. On the other hand White can recruit, and I could see this as a big reason Georgia saw him as a good fit. Bring in a very clean coach who can manages to get a handful of top 100 guys every year and has so-so results. Compare that to what Georgia's program has done and that's an upgrade.

Any guesses where Florida goes in the coaching search? Matt McMahon, Anthony Grant, Sean Miller?
Where i'm at right now...
McMahon - Homerun hire but likely coveted by more than a few big programs depending on who's in the market. If he even wants to leave?
Grant - Feel good story, but many will ? his lack of success at Bama and he's likely to be painted as a "we settled" option.
Pitino and Miller (Sean) - Don't see either as likely. Pitino is almost 70 and Miller has baggage. Florida's UAA frequently claims it looks to win championships with integrity. This eliminates both.
Scott Drew - Is he really looking to move? The UGA stuff was weird, unless they were prepared to overpay and he was really interested in building a P5 program from scratch. One would think Drew would be a great fit for a struggling former top program like a Louisville and not play second fiddle to a football program no matter how well he does, which isnt much different from what could happen at Florida.
Rhoades, Gates, and Jermone Tang are other names that have been tossed out there as well, oh and Archie Miller too.
If I had to guess i'd say based on the Billy Napier hire for football that Strickland is going to zero in on his guy fairly quickly and get him. If I had to put money on the table right now i'd say McMahon.

Thats the expectation, based on them swinging for the fences and getting Brian Kelly, that Woodward will act similarly with Wades replacement.
Another name that pops up for UF is Wes Miller. The only concern there would be if he's content where he is until he maybe gets a shot at the UNC job, but who knows when that could ever be? Especially if Davis works out.

Yeah I don't think it will be Stack, he hasnt been very successful so far in Nashville so I don't see where the draw would be for UF. I'm also thinking Grant is probably a no-go too, just hard to look at the resume and see where he wasnt able to find success at Alabama and while good at Dayton he's really only had 1 really great team (that unfortunately has COVID to thank for never knowing how far they could have gotten in the NCAAs).
I think Florida will avoid any coaches with stains (Rick Pitino, Sean Miller, Chris Mack) and any coaches who've underwhelmed at a similar stage in the SEC (Jerry Stackhouse, Anthony Grant). Strickland seems to be keen on finding the next up and coming star like he did with Donovan and tried to do with Mike White. (While White won 27, 29, and 28 games in his 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years at LA Tech the red flag should have been that despite winning that many games his team never won the conference tournament and he never took them to the NCAAs.)

Understudy of Bruce Pearl and Washington State HC Kyle Smith. Was also a pretty good player for St. Marys.
What i'm hearing - Boom or bust hire, huge upside, brilliant offensive mind. Some think his time with Pearl should hopefully have rubbed off some recruiting ability onto him.
Interesting approach but very similar to what Strickland did with getting Billy Napier for the football program. He zero'd in on his target and handled it quick.

The SEC has UK and Auburn as a top two every bit as good as Baylor/ Kansas. (Kentucky beat KU by 20 in Lawrence.)
The SEC's second tier-- Arkansas and Tennessee-- are just as good as Texas Tech.
Alabama and LSU are just as good as Texas in the third tier.
And Florida, Texas A&M, et al., are better than the Big XII's basement as well.
Pomeroy says the two leagues are tight at the top. Three of each league in the top 12, four in the top 16. After that, though, the SEC has a clear advantage.

It’s Scott Woodward and he’s known for big name hires and big time contracts.
Just to name a few:

Chris Petersen
Jimbo Fisher
Buzz Williams
Kim Mulkey
Brian Kelly
If LSU didn’t have sanctions coming I bet Woodward would have aimed higher. Getting McMahon though is a major win though given the circumstances.

A&M won 4 games in the NIT and lost the championship game by 1 point when Xavier hit the game winning shot with 5 seconds left. In what world does that not strengthen the argument that they should have made the NCAAs??

There's always going to be arguments surrounding the Last Four In and First Four Out teams and all of them have arguments to be included in the NCAA tournament. And all of them have the ability to make deep NCAA tournament runs. But A&M seemed overly whiny about getting snubbed this year though. Kudos for them for playing well and not throwing in the towel in the NIT.
I'd suggest if A&M wants to make the NCAA tournament in the future, they improve their NET of 43, a SOS of 173, and avoid an eight-game losing streak in January and February with home losses to Missouri and South Carolina.

I can't imagine a scenario where any team goes 2-8 to finish the season and makes the NCAAs. Another case of a team being better than their resume.
A&M on the other hand went 8-2 down the stretch with a handful of Q1 wins.

It would have to be basketball only. It's pretty much impossible to have your non-revenue sports travel commercially given the geography. If you're just flying your basketball team around on chartered jets, it's really not that bad. No more difficult that a lot of non-revenue sports have it now either having to fly commercial and make connections (and get to the airport over an hour ahead of time) or taking long bus rides.
