They can for sure. I just hope they aren't needed. Pitched a bunch in STL. I don't wanna see them overused and on the IL. Shouldn't have to use them every time you have a 5 plus run lead. Be nice to have them extra fresh for the rubber game tomorrow. Of course there usage all depends on how well or bad Castillo pitches tomorrow.

Votto is a lousy base runner. Yes, at least he didn’t get thrown out. But when is the last time you saw a single to center and a base runner on second fails to advance? A competent baserunner should do that. Votto has lousy baserunning instincts and is slow. And he knows it. Not the end of the world, but not a good play.

The bothersome part to me is he often gets bad jumps on the bases as he’s not certai of where OFers are positioned each pitch. He’s an awful base runner and I’d say his base running instincts and abilities are as bad as JBJ’s in CF are good. I’m glad he don’t make the out. When Votto is penciled in you get a low range fielder that step snd stretches with wrong foot and not towards the throw and one of the bottom base runners in the game....and he’ll give very good plate appearances

seriously, i like this team. this front office needs to find a way to improve this bullpen. and hopefully jose barrero gets called up soon to be the everyday SS, but i am beginning to think the 2021 reds might be good. and this is called me setting myself up for disappointment.
