looks like they might get this one in. according to the radar, looks like rain will hold off until 3 pm. maybe 3:15. but then it's coming strong.

other than farmer playing SS every day (when are they going to call up jose barrero?) i'm really liking what the lineup looks like pretty much on a daily basis.

If Votto were in peak form and Suarez was hitting, this would be a high caliber lineup, even with no Moose.

Naquin arguably iffy but so far totally deserves a prominent spot. Defensive-oriented shortstop hitting eighth is not unusual.

Tilt toward left side is good against good righty starter.

Just need a well pitched game, hope Reds get a series win.

Votto 5th again surprised.

I'm not. He's coming off an injury and it's going to take him some time to find his groove.

With India hot right now (.500+ OBP last two weeks), getting him in front of Winker/Castellanos makes too much sense.

Funny post but I disagree. Joey is going to hit some big HR and that one was needed for sure...kudos but also expected every 25 AB or so. He’s going to make mistakes and errors at first ....but that effort is completely unacceptable and me or you could’ve been where he was and got in front of that ball, no it’s not any fun but it’s 100% how you play the game.

He can hit 2 more HR and win the game and more than atone for that play/effort....but my problem is that is how he always plays that ball and it’s just unacceptable to me as a fan. Every time he does it it’s going to tick me off a bit. I will continue to blame Brandon Phillips for starting it.

I know it's easy to say after the fact, but I would've left Castillo in for one more hitter.

Granted he had labored a little, but he was still under 100 pitches and had just come off a strikeout. Plus there was an open base in case of another walk.

In that situation, I give him one more chance to get out of his own mess rather than turn it over to a bullpen that's been horrible at keeping inherited runners from scoring (except for one guy).

I feel bad for David Bell. He’s unlucky. He makes perfectly normal, innocuous moves and they blow up in absolutely spectacular fashion. But yeah... Sims allows way to many base runners on the regular to pitch in that spot. Needed to be WHIP-champion Antone to finish the 6th and pitch the 7th.

We could start the 8th with the bases loaded and no outs and down 1-run... and our win probability against this team would be zero. Williams and Hader will not surrender an earned run the Reds in our lifetimes.

You kinda oversimplified. Williams and Hader are going to almost always guarantee the 8th and 9th. They have a couple of other guys who aren’t nearly on that level but are respectable. It’s tough for anyone to come back from 2 down in 4 innings when they can almost always make it a 7 inning affair.

As for my appraisal of the Reds offense, this is one of those times statistics can fool you unless you use the right one. I don’t think this is the best offense in the league. Some may disagree. The post was more a lament about the Brewers pen than anything else.
