That's gotta suck.

I am not really bullish on Aquino, but it's hard not to like the guy. I would like to see what numbers he could put up if he got 150 starts one year in RF.

Maybe the Reds can dangle him to a rebuilding team for some bullpen depth.

Personally, I would not move him. He should be under team control and cheap (unless he began crushing balls often again) for the next 4 years. He is a guy that can play all 3 OF spots and provides a bat that can change a game with one swing. How can we do better than that level of value for a 4th/5th OF'er?

A really good defensive CFer who can hit enough for a good backup? That would be valuable on this team.

I don’t see Aquino having that much value. You need some bench guys who hit lefties, I guess he’s ok in that role. But the league seems to have figured him out from the glory days of his first season.

Every Geno at bat be like:

Fat fastball right down the middle: foul ball

*Sadak outrageously claims that Suarez has been hitting better*
Offspeed way down and out of the zone: swinging strike and end of inning.

I appreciate Bell and the general Reds org for giving Geno a chance to straighten things out but it just doesn't look like it's happening this season. Might take a ton of work over the offseason to fix him. As long as the Reds are in the playoff hunt I'd start benching him consistently. Give Lopez a bunch of starts, maybe platoon Geno/Votto at 1B once Moose is back. At the very least he should be batting 7th.

I don’t think another position change is in Geno’s future. As long as he any Kyle Farmer are on the 26-man roster, David Bell is going to start them 95% of the time. I’ll bet Lopez could put up a .350 OBP, play adequate defense, and be a fine non-out-maker hitting behind Naquin. We will never know. Lopez could go 15 for 15 pinch hitting to start his career while Suarez goes 1 for 65 with 1 HR, and Suarez will continue to get 100% of the starts at 3B. We could trade for Manny Machado - and he would back up Suarez… it is what it is.

If you give the batter a sacrifice, it can't be an error on the throw for the pitcher, but just a fielders choice. If you give an error, it should not be a sacrifice since a normal good play would have had the runner at 3rd.

Facts… This board inexplicably loves Shogo because he popped a few singles over a 3-week stretch last year. He has no power, no arm, and generates no exit velocity. Farmer is basically the winner of a “Get 500 Plate Appearances for the Reds” fan contest… he’s here out of necessity - hopefully Barerro will eliminate that need soon.

The Cast DP in the first. Reds had a bunch of hits but only one run.

Every RP that's come thru our system for 7-10 years that was drafted as a RP has been absolute trash.

I know those guys don't succeed as often, but guys like Kuhnel, Herget, Rainey, Hendrix, etc. were all viewed at some point as legitimate prospects as relief pitchers and many of them were drafted fairly high.

It's beyond frustrating.

My man has no idea where the ball is going. His 4.0 BB/9 rate in the minors and 5.0 BB/9 rate in college is indicative of that. He’s wild - and what’s worse - he’s wild in the zone. You can get double-A guys out with a 97 mph fastball right down the middle. You won’t get MLB hitters out with that. I’m all for giving the kid a chance - but unless he starts throwing a cutter or a knuckleball or something, he’s just taking up space.
