The reason Schrock is playing right is likely due to Maeda’s career splits. RHH are only hitting .600 OPS lifetime against him. LHH are hitting .743. Shogo might have expected to play but Schrock had that five hit game recently.

With Mahle's velocity down tonight, not only was it not good enough to get him out, it wasn't good enough to prevent a 3-run lead taking HR. But Mahle is now in line for an undeserved win if the bullpen holds, which may off-set some wins that would have been deserved, but the bullpen squandered.
