As soon as Senzel is back I expect an off day for Farmer as well. Correct decisions IMO.

He’s been a little banged up for a good long while and played everyday without negative effects. If he’s banged up or needs a day off then I obviously have no issue….but this guy gets drilled every other game, spiked….and always gets up and finishes game without a problem. I used to this guy finding a reason to fight for Reds wins with his play and I expect to see him in there today because it’s hard to imagine him being hurt.

My thing is this, if Bell goes to Wilson over Garrett, and he doesn't pitch well, it's gonna be Bell fault. Or Doolittle. Or Hembree. The minute he goes to a pitcher not named Cessa, Givens, Lorenzen or Sims, he gonna be crucified. And trust me, I don't necessarily want to see those guys pitch anymore either, but they are on the roster. And until they are off of it, Bell will use them to a degree.

But my god, baseball needs to fix this blatant tanking. Sure, it's fun to watch the Reds win, but the Pirates (and teams like them) should get no revenue sharing when they pull shenanigans like this. I doubt the owners or players really care, but this should be something addressed in the next collective bargaining agreement. Tanking hurts the sport more than the Dodgers buying every player does.

Here is the problem. I have been a Hembree backer from day 1. But I have also said the roster spot for Antone returning came down to who pitches best between now and then. Between Doolittle and Hoffman. Well now I am adding Hembree and Garrett.
But even when Antone returns that is going to get rid of one of the four. I think when senzel returns it will get rid of another.
So let's say they have 5 reliable relievers when Antone returns. Your still going to have 3 or 4 weak spots.
My long winded point is Bell can't use the same 4 or 5 guys every day. The other 3-4 weak relievers are going to have to pitch. And sometimes that is going to be in close games.
In today's baseball or 8 or 9 man pens. You must have a minimum of 6 guys you can depend on. So they can share pitching in close game. Right now the Reds have 4 reliable arms. Far better than a few weeks ago. But still not enough.
